YAHTZEE! Darius West commits to Kentucky!

Break out your dice because the Cats just landed ANOTHER commitment! Darius West, a four-star safety from Lima, Ohio, has committed to Kentucky. He’s considered the 15th best safety in the nation and the 5th best player in the state of Ohio. He’s also best friends with Mike Edwards, who committed to UK earlier today. West was in Lexington with Edwards this evening, met with Vince Marrow and Mark Stoops, and walked out a Wildcat.

In less than six hours, Kentucky’s defensive backs group just got a whole lot better.

Welcome aboard, Darius.

What we’re seeing is the biggest talent upgrade at UK since Calipari followed Gillispie.

It also shows what some hard work and a new energy can do. Kentucky is an SEC program, they shouldn’t be losing recruits to North South East West Tech.

With Neal Brown, we know we’re going to score points. So if we can get a defense that can hold its own, watch out. Three years of this kind of recruiting, and we’re competing with the big boys. I cannot wait!!!

This is awesome, but in football recruiting, things can change … A LOT. If the cats look bad on the field, and lose 9, or just look bad period, we could lose all these guys. This upcoming season is VERY important. The team has to show continuous improvement and NEVER quit … Or we will lose a lot of these commits. Most importntly, us fans HAVE to stay behind this tem, keep the stadium full, keep he excitement going. I’m gonna bet evry home game cheering, please join me.

    14) I think the class of 2014 knows that 2013 is going to be a struggle. They are being sold on coming in and starting something special. Stoops just didn’t have enough time to make this kind of impact for class of 2013. All the good ones had already committed.

Our 14 class knows that this year is going to be a little struggle but what is great is we have some big teams on the schedule coming to commonwealth if we can make a couple of upsets this year witch I could def see happening it could put some more recruits over the top to commit to us!!

    11. That will never happen and shouldn’t. UK will always be synonymous with basketball excellence. I’m all for Stoops building the program to the highest point possible, but it will never eclipse basketball in my heart.

14, we could lose “all of them”? really? give me a break, sure it’s possible some could defect but it’s prolly not gonna be because of a poor season. they aren’t expecting an undefeated season i’m sure. and even if we did only win a couple games think about it, that would prolly solidify their commitment because the need for their services would be that much more evident! let’s just ease up on the hyperbole bro.

What??? No “smack talk” from our friends down I-64!! They were out in full force yesterday, and earlier today!! They’d better hurry up and get ol’ Clint off administrative leave quickly! Stoops & staff are leaving Strong and his boys in the dust!!

Another great day for the Cats in recruiting! I don’t think any of us could have imagined when Stoops was hired just what kind of impact he would have so soon! Wow!!!

Shelbyjoe is absolutely right! No matter what happens on the field this fall (and I think most of us fans expect this team to take some lumps), the fan base has to stay supportive!! Many of the kids were probably at the spring game, and witnessed the turn out and excitement. That’s what they need to see for each home game this fall! Let’s do our part BBN!!

Yes, even with the excitement that has been generated by Coach Stoops and his staff, Kentucky still has a lot of work to do. We all know that Kentucky is not a traditional football power. BUT, since Rich Brooks’ first season in 2003, Kentucky has defeated three of the schools that you mentioned. Just like the streak with UT, I believe the streak with the Gators is numbered, as may be the days of Will Muschamp in Gainesville. From what I heard, Gator fans were not too happy with Muschamp after his team’s performance against Louisville in the Sugar Bowl, even after a one loss regular season.

I believe we are in the last couple of years of the Steve “Superior” era at South Carolina. And, we’ve defeated UGA a couple of times since 2003.

To me, not defeating Alabama right now is not a very good indicator of whether your football program is “excelling”. Just ask ND, Texas, LSU, etc., about that that! The Tide are in a league of their own.

Allow yourself to dream a little like our Louisville friends! “On a collision course with the National Championship, and the only variable is time.” Lol!!!
