As we get ready for the Liberty Bowl (and I slowly talk myself into going), thoughts harken back to the one time Kentucky and ECU played in the past. Yes the Pirates came to Lexington back in 1993 that I remember as potentially the worst football game ever. The Cats won the battle 6-3, in the rain and muck and with two anemic offenses that set football back about 50 years. This ECU game has often been fodder for discussion between me and the biggest UK football fan I know (the great Duncan Cavanah) and is usually part of our discussion of all-time “you have to be a true UK football fan to have gone to this game” talks. We always nominate UK-ECU from 1993 as one of those truly hideous games of the past, but it isnt the only battle on the list. What other home games from the past 20 years or so would you place up there with the Pirates showdown? And will the Liberty Bowl this season break the 10 point total point barrier? It remains to be seen…..
