Photo by Chet White, UK Athletics

After a record-breaking week, Willie Cauley-Stein has been named SEC Freshman of the Week. Willie averaged 13.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5 blocks last week in the Cats’ wins over Vanderbilt and Missouri.

Big Willie style all in it…

2-WCS has tons of potnetial, but not sure he has anymore than NN, unless you assume that NN’s offensive game isn’t going to develop, but assume that both WCS’s offensive and defensive games will.

He was my favorite recruit in this class from day one, with Nerlens a close second. I just think Willie has a great story, being a wide receiver in high school. For those of you that enjoy Willie you really oughta go to YouTube and type Willie Cauley Stein football highlights because they are great. They definitely explain why he has the agility and hands.

#8 That’s ok. I’ll continue watching the Cats. Why in the hell would I want to “go watch Tubby in Minnesota or BCG in…” I’d be willing to bet I’ve been watching UK play a hell of a lot longer than you have.

Willie isn’t ready for the NBA but neither is Noel but we cannot blame a kid for taking the money while it is available. I can see why a GM would want to take chance with Willie. He has size, quickness, agility and he is not afraid to get his knees skinned up. I love his and Noels hustle.

“I have a chance to get SEC freshman of the week.”

He’s the story. He contributed in the same impact as Nerlens did last week and the team actually played more like a team with him (no reflection on Nerlens, when you have the best defender in the game down low you relax). And he’s still getting his conditioning. UK COULD take off like the ’11 team did.

How do you average 9.8 rebounds over two games? That is impossible.

16, share a rebound stat with a teammate?
Like the stat man not sure “who” got the rebound.

16 – I had the same question. 17 – those are called ‘team rebounds’ and they’re generally not alloted to any specific players, just listed as team rebounds. UK athletics site says 9.5.

    18, good info.
Any idea which UK teams had the HIGHEST “Team Rebounds” average EVER?
