Tonight, when Butler and Duke square off for the national championship, the game, according to Rivals’ Jason King, will only be part of the story. Persecuted and stereotyped throughout history, white people will finally get their dues Monday night as the two private school finalists showcase 5 white guys in their starting lineups, the most since UK and Utah in 1998. And, according to this story, white basketball players, who make up 32.5% of college basketball rosters, are striking back against oppression this year as Brian Zoubek, Jimmer Fredette and Andy Rautins have “flourished” in this year’s tournament and “St. Mary’s, Northern Iowa and Cornell reached the Sweet 16 with predominantly white rosters”. And, with Josh McRoberts, Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy combining for 50 points in an Indiana Pacers victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday, it’s clear that Indianapolis is finally giving white people a 1950s fair shot.
And it’s about time. White people have been through enough.
