Which SEC coach is saying what about Kentucky?

Who’s ready for a quiz? Athlon Sports surveyed all fourteen of the SEC coaches recently about their SEC foes. In order to coax them out of their coach-speak shells a little bit, Athlon assured the coaches that their answers would be anonymous.

Here’s what the SEC coaches had to say about Kentucky. Match each quote with which SEC coach you think said it:

1. “Kentucky, for the past few years, hasn’t had anybody that’s scared you on offense, on the perimeter or at running back. When your best player is your right guard (Larry Warford), that’s probably a little bit of a problem.”

2. “They have some good young running backs, and obviously Patrick Towles and Jalen Whitlow, the two (sophomore) quarterbacks, are pretty talented. I’m sure those guys will improve.”

3. “Towles is a talented kid. He was pretty highly recruited. He did a great job in his first game against Mississippi State, driving them down the field, but then got hurt. He’s a hometown kid and a fan favorite. I think he can be a pretty good player. My gut is that he is the guy who gets the job, but don’t forget about Max Smith. He was playing well before getting hurt last year.”

4. “I’m sure (Mark) Stoops will come in and attract some talent. The fact of where Lexington is and his ties to Ohio, you will see an outside-the-box thinking as far as recruiting. They will get some players from Ohio. He already has done a good job in that state.”

5. “Stoops is well regarded as a defensive coordinator. He did a great job at Florida State. People forget, that defense had been struggling before he got there.”

6. “(Offensive coordinator) Neal Brown is very confident. He has a little bit of a swagger to him. He did a good job at Troy and Texas Tech.”

Number one’s gotta be Steve Spurrier, who, by the way, was both shirtless and shoeless at a recent South Carolina practice:

Don’t know who the hell said it but, since the “last few years” would include Randall Cobb, wouldn’t consider him any too smart.

    1. Steve Spurrier
    2. Butch Jones (think he recruited Towles at UC, and mentions him)
    3. James Franklin (probably scouted that Miss. State game before Vandy played the Cats)
    4. Bret Bielema
    5. Will Muschamp (FSU mention)
    6. Kevin Sumlin (mentions Texas school)

no. 3 has to be Spurrier, as a former QB no one else would be that detailed about other teams’ QBs, no.1 Mark Richt, no.2 James Franklin. no.4 Butch Jones, no.5 Muschamp, no.6 Les Miles
