Where was CJ Conrad last night?

IMG_3935

All off season we heard about new Offensive Coordinators Eddie Gran and Darin Hinshaw’s ability to use a tight end like CJ Conrad effectively.  Every BBN fan was pleased to hear that after Conrad was grossely under used in his freshman season.

Well in the first game of the season Conrad had one reception for 5 yards, not exactly the type of production that we expected. Conrad is a big body tight end that can create space for himself with his 6’5 245 pound frame. Kentucky is not talented enough to have one of the best pass catchers in the SEC go missing in a game that was considered a must win.

Looking ahead to next week against Florida if the cats want to pull off the upset Gran and Hinshaw must get the ball to Conrad more often. The entire offense including QB Drew Barker will benefit from the big tight end getting more involved. Barker lacked a go to pass catcher in the second half and Conrad certainly has the ability to be that guy going forward.

Seems like the fans and media are asking all the questions UK pays people millions to have already asked themselves. Till our coaching staff addresses their own obvious short comings the players and talent won’t matter. The problem on D is either stoops himself or Ellliot. One of them needs to be completely removed from in game adjustments. And they need to abandon the 3/4. as for the offense. I’m guessing it’s stoops being that we are on our 3rd O cord and it still the same play not to lose adjustments. Or complete lack of agressiveness with a lead. We have more talent than we have had in years. No more excuses. Everyone is paying the price for inept and timid coaching. Stoops need to wake the f up and deal with the obvious coaching issues. Even if it’s himself. Friendships be dammed. Pride be dammed. Do what’s best for the players and fans. That’s what they’re paid for. If pride and loyalty are more important. Then resign.

There are several reasons we lost the game last night, but what is glaringly
obvious to me is, our D-Line is NON-EXISTANT!
We were MANHANDLED by a CUSA team who had one returning starter in that position!
    This is going to get U G L Y ! !

We don’t have a line. We play 3 on five. That whole scheme depends on a nose that Demands doubles to prevent penitration. We don’t have that. We have never had that the whole time it’s been in place. That leaves o linemen to punch holes for backs and make our backs to shed blocks and try to tackle well past the line already. It’s a complete joke at this point. I don’t know shit about x and o’s football. And I can see it clear as day. It baffles me he is so subborn to change the scheme or remove himself and Elliot from planning and play calling. It’s broke. Been broke. And will be broke till they change it. I don’t care how much film you watch. It’s f’ed. Fix it

Conrad has been overhyped since High School. If the guy could get open he’d have the ball delivered to him. The entirety of this program is built on undeserved hype and Conrad is just another in a long line of underwhelming recruits/players.

Conrad dropped a pass on the first drive. He didn’t get the ball thrown to him in the 1st half because our receiver were making huge plays with yards after catch. In the 2nd half he didn’t get the ball because the O-Line got dominated and Barker was constantly under pressure. Huge problem within our fan base is that the majority thinks football is like basketball. It’s not as easy as just drawing up plays for Conrad.
We have some great fans but also our fair share of idiots that don’t know a whole lot about football. Other than Freddie and Nick, KSR doesn’t have a lot of writers that comprehend X’s and O’s. That’s blatantly apparent from Eli’s article here. Just throw the ball to Conrad… Coach Gran said he was going to…. Football strategy is way over your head buddy. And I’ll end this rant by stating again, the first play of the game was a pass to Conrad. Who dropped the ball. An important argument that was conviniently left out. Then again, when you’re just writing articles to appease an already I’ll informed football fanbase, or writing articles based upon KSR comment section, things like strategy, X’s & O’s, and the real reason Conrad didn’t get the ball are conviniently neglected.

Unfortunately Conrad is more important as a blocker than a receiver. We don’t have enough of an O line to let him catch the ball. We have to use him to block until we get better players.

Better players??? All we’ve heard for four years is how wonderful the recruiting has been. I mean, Barney gave Stoops a ridiculous extension and raise based on this recruiting. Barney built a $45MM practice facility and even built a fake trophy. Better players? How in the hell do you get better players than what is already here? The coach has got to go. He should have been canned last year except Barney strapped the program with a TURRRIBLE contract. He should be fired as well.

“All off season we heard about new Offensive Coordinators Eddie Gran and Darin Hinshaw’s ability to use a tight end like CJ Conrad effectively.”

KSR has hyped up Conrad and the new offensive coordinators more than anyone else. How can anyone consider him one of the better pass catchers in the sec when he has 16 catches in 13 games?
