As we have waded through the “Week Without Games”, we have attempted to discuss all facets of the basketball prorgam as thoroughly as possible. However one person who hasnt been dissected, at least not here is the enigma known as Donald Williams. Williams, whose teammates say is the funniest guy on the team, was brought in very late to be this team’s “shooter” and to give the possibility of another outside option. But at this point, Williams hasnt played at all and it isnt clear what his role will be going forward. Is he a potential redshirt possibility? Is he a player who just hasnt found his groove in the rotation? Or is he a guy who is only going to be on the team for a year and will look at other options next year?
Even when Mark Coury was on the team, his Napoleon Dynamite-like ways made him fodder for conversation. But I dont think I have ever seen a player less known than Donald Williams is now. I am not certain that most fans would recognize him on the street and it is unclear whether some even know he is on the team. All of which begs the question…..what is the story with “The Donald?” The world wants to know….
(or at least Tomlin does in between the stories he is writing for “National Geographic for Kids”)
