This show has been pretty bad so far today. From a listener’s perspective, it sounds like we’re a fly on the wall listening to a few friends talk about nothing. There is zero structure and everyone is interrupting.
I suggest either Beisner or Franklin takes the reigns and acts as the host. Your job as host is to take lead, determine conversation topics, and keep the conversation focused.
Pick 6 topics. Speak about each for 15 minutes to cover the remaining 90 minutes.

Hey Guys, This football team could get up and surprise like the baseball team that was forecast to finish last.
The schedule is not that bad. If we are supposed to be better, it could happen. Louisville surprised us last year and we can return the favor this year. I think the team that developed late in the year was a completely different one than we had early on with no real direction. The UK momentum is alive. Lets try to keep it going.

Yep. These reasons are exactly why UK needs to take whomever they can get when it comes to a winning FB coach. UK is the very last school in the country that can get picky with a FB coach (See the Leach story). They either want to win and will deal with what comes along with that, or we’ll forever be relegated to unknown coaches trying to tread water for bargain investments.

I agree with Chip…Joker needs to open the offense and utilize Smith’s arm down field with King and some of the younger wide-outs. Also, use the TE to move the chains and try to maintain a 50-50 or 60-40 play-call ratio (pass-run).

UK going pass happy with this current team is ging to produce very similar results to last season. Defense will LIVE on the field b/c UK won’t be able to convert first downs. They aren’t going to magically start pass blocking abd catching non-catchable balls.
If we want to get a high profile coach, this job must be a stepping stone job. UK is not a destination job by any stretch. You could say Louisville has been a stepping stone job, but look how it has helped build their program. We can hate all we want, but they are a higher profile job than UK is.

La’Rod King, Demarco Robinson, Daryl Collins, Jordan Aumiller. Seriously…what does Joker have to gain by running the ball the majority of the game behind an inexperienced line against some of the best defensive lines in the nation? I’m just saying try to utilize Smith’s strengths which are his accuracy and arm strength; after a year of experience and an off-season to learn more of the playbook, open it up and try to stretch the field. I just feel if the Cats try to run the ball the majority of the time, defenses will stack the line and plug the running lanes.
139 — I kind of disagree about this being a stepping stone job. It’s not a good job, but for the same reasons it detracts it also attracts. Being in the SEC is a big deal and makes the job very appealing in that regard to many coaches. Many coaches believe that they can do the job whenever, wherever. There are confident, young, and good coaches out there. Many of them would owe a lot of gratitude to get the chance to be a head-coach in the SEC. You are not leaving UK to coach at other big-conference programs. If you do well you are doing well in the SEC and many would not leave such a situation. If you don’t do well, you are moving on to head coach anywhere in any major conferences.

He will have less of a line that he had last year, and last year’s line was horrid at best. He’ll have exactly one new receiver that shows promise.

If he’s successful, I can absolutely see somebody staying. This can become a long term job then. I can’t stand when people try to sell short what Brooks did here at UK. All I know is that we beat No. 1 ranked and co-national champs LSU one season and also whipped a very good Clemson team in a bowl game. We were good then. Brooks did a very good job. I’d do anything to have such a good team again.
Hal Mumme not only made Tim couch better, how about Dusty Bonner or Jared Lorenzen? I know Guy Morris was here with Lorenzen also but they would not pay to keep him when he was doing good.
Tubby Smith freakin’ won a national championship and went on deep tourney runs. We were good. His teams were good. Joker is not good and his team absolutely sucks.

UK has guys in the NBA, people are talking about repeating as NC, people are interested in all the top HS recruits because several are likely to commit to UK, people are interested in all the cool things Cal does throughout the off-season. Are any of those themes transferrable to UK football?
Should have put- UK has a TON of guys in the NBA- I know UK football has a few punters in the NFL, but no one who really stands out besides Cobb. Relevance breeds interest. UK Basketball is relevant in a way UK football never will be. Man up and accept it.
