When John Calipari wants Shoney’s, he gets Shoney’s
The Verizon Wireless Championship Tour was pulling into Elizabethtown just a few minutes ago when Coach Cal decided he wanted to go to Shoney’s. And just as the group did yesterday with McDonald’s, they immediately pulled into Shoney’s, per Cal’s request.
The group was greeted by the restaurant’s manager, who asked, “Did you stop here because you heard about our remodel?” Matt followed that up with a tweet saying he’s under the assumption that Calipari did hear about the remodel and that is why they stopped there.
Now the boys just have to make sure they clean their plates so they can get a free sucker on the way out!

I think this is just great as most of you do. These are stories the waitresses & managers will be telling grandchildren and friends for years. Cal has gotten it no doubt but the understanding of regular people in the bluegrass and what UK means to them is another level of “getting it”.

#37 I went to Lexington a few weeks ago and can confirm Jerry’s is still open in Paris and Mount Sterling. Radcliff may have one as well, not sure though.
