What were Dakari Johnson and the Harrison Twins’ second choices?

DAKARI-JOHNSON-UK-JERSEYAARON-ANDREW-HARRISON-UK-JERSEY

If they hadn’t decided to go for a national championship at Kentucky, where would some of UK’s incoming freshmen have played ball? USA Today’s Jason Jordan asked that question to Dakari Johnson and Andrew Harrison, the latter of which we would assume had the same response as his twin brother:

Dakari Johnson, Montverde (Montverde, Fla.), C
Signed to: Kentucky
I almost went to: “Georgetown. I love the staff there and they’re an elite school for big men. I know I would excel there. They almost got me. I would’ve gone there if Kentucky wasn’t an option.”

Andrew Harrison, Travis (Richmond, Texas), PG
Signed to: Kentucky
I almost went to: “Maryland. They have a great coaching staff and that’s where a lot of my family is from.”

The Harrisons’ answer was obvious; it was down to Kentucky and Maryland down the stretch, but man…poor Georgetown. First Noel, now Johnson and Kennedy Meeks (our favorite new Tarheel)? Always a bridesmaid…

Also of note: Chris Walker almost went to Louisville. After watching him in the McDonald’s All-American Dunk Contest, I am fine with him being a Gator instead of a Card.

What exactly makes Georgetown an elite school for big men? P. Ewing, A. Mourning, & D. Mutombo played for a different coach – J. Thompson Sr.

I would argue Kentucky under Cal is now an “elite school for big men”.

#9-Asking #7 to “explain” something is hopeless. He just throws his one-liners out. He has no ability to reason.

14- Get your 15 minutes of fame in. It’ll be all be spent once our guys get to campus. Media talks more about us than they do you. That has to sting.

Go to Georgetown where they run and gun and score 100 points a game. Oh, not that Georgetown. Then, OK, go to Georgetown where they bump and grind and score 50 points a game.

    14,
I believe that article was 2010? A legitimate point of view, at the time.
    Nice try. Poor execution.
Matt MAY be as you say, I don’t believe so but this article does not support your thesis.

Chris Walker: I almost went to louisville, but then I decided I wanted to be a one and done to the NBA instead of spending 4 years in Pitino’s system (2 years of that 4 injured) and one day find myself waking up in Spain playing for Real Battis lining up next to Mikro Whogivsashit the Lithuanian big man with a decent mid-range jumper.
