What is Boot Camp?

Yesterday was the beginning of the preseason session for the basketball program that goes by the name of “Boot Camp.” All programs have preseason conditioning, and Kentucky’s past coaches have attempted to get their teams into running shape prior to the season. However with Gillispie, the preseason conditioning has taken on a completely different tone, symbolized by its “Boot Camp” name. But what exactly is Boot Camp, and how does it work? While there has been no official release as to what goes on, I spoke last year with Razor Ramon Palin for a preseason interview for a magazine, and he described a day of Boot Camp thusly:
6 AM — First set of running and sprinting drills
8 AM — Prep and Class
11 AM — Long jog
12 PM — Lunch
1 PM — Class
3 PM — Weight training
4:30 PM — Sprints and other running drills
6 PM — Dinner
7 PM — Tutoring, etc
Now of course this is just one example, but that is a full day…..certainly more than Mosley has ever gotten accomplished in one afternoon. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
