What does a recruiting letter from Mark Stoops look like?

Over the past few months, bulk mailing has become one of Mark Stoops and staff’s go-to recruiting techniques. Drew Barker received 115 handwritten letters from the staff, and other recruits like Matt Elam and Mike Edwards have received similar mass mailings and posted the pictures on Twitter. Barker also tweeted some pictures of what was inside those 115 envelopes, which included handwritten messages telling the talented in-state QB why he should come to UK.

Last night, Mike Edwards went one step further, tweeting a picture of a personalized letter he received from the staff, which included a picture of him and stoops, personalized messages, and signatures from the staff. Edwards called it one of the best letters he’s gotten. A few weeks ago, the three-star safety from Cincinnati was on the verge of committing to the Cats, but backed off after talking it over with family and his coach. He’ll now announce his decision sometime before his season begins.

The difference in the attitude towards recruiting between the previous staff and Stoops is mind-blowing. At the rate they’re bringing guys in, it won’t be long before the performance on the field is as well.

Does the handwritten note at the top say,”Hey Mike, we are fired up about you and your decision to play at UK…” As in, we’re excited about the decision you’ve already made and communicated to us?

I was thinking the same thing.

That’s how I read it, and that is the message signed by Stoops himself.

Wow, tough day handicapping the races. Anyway, to be fair, can we see the congratulatory messages sent by Joker?

I mean, let’s make sure Stoops didn’t steal any ideas before we applaud.

Anyone remember those cheesy Baylor basketball recruiting letters KSR posted and we all made fun of? Stoops is doing the same thing. But hey, if it works, it works?1?1?!

Anyone else notice Stoops’ pic is reversed. The UK on his jacket is backwards. Can’t our graphics dept at least make sure the school logo looks right?

Isn’t this a recruiting violation for the university to publicly discuss a recruit by name?

@Bob- no, this would be if the coach himself did publicly on his own terms, if a recruit does this like Edwards has, it’s fine, it’s a personal message via mail.
