Western Kentucky Announces Move To Conference USA

Our neighbors to the west have been invited to join Conference USA, and like any polite party attendee, Western Kentucky has accepted the invitation and will make a formal announcement on Monday. The Hilltoppers will officially begin league competition in 2014, and the new C-USA will include: Charlotte, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Mississippi, Alabama-Birmingham, Texas-El Paso, and Texas-San Antonio, along with fellow former Sun Belt Conference members Florida Atlantic, Florida International, North Texas, and Middle Tennessee.
Congrats to the Hilltoppers on their big move to C-USA. Can someone get me a picture of the mascot standing in front of an American flag please?

Can someone explain again how a red Grimmace became their mascot? That’s stranger than Stanford’s tree
Wave the Red Towel like a helicopter.
Seems like an almost lateral move, but I guess C-USA can at least get an at-large bid easier than the Sun Belt. Honestly, WKU would be a good fit for the SEC, for basketball anyway.
3 smh facepalm
4) It does sound odd but WKU might just perform better than South Carolina or LSU in league play on average. It obviously would never happen. Great move for them, though. I don’t think 3 realizes how poor of a league the Sun Belt really is. It’s a promotion for sure.
C USA is a definite move up from the Sunbelt. I’d rather them be in the MAC, but at least they’re moving up.
sometimes you have to take baby steps. wku has a devoted fanbase, it’s just not that large. make some football noise this year ‘toppers, hope you don’t make my blue ears bleed, tho.. I was at eku during roy kidd’s years. eku – wku games were epic. bb was pretty good even back then too – ask Rex’s dad, and try as i may i can’t forget ky native jim mcdaniels dominating my cayts in ’71. jm was the chris lofton of his time – uk letting homers get away goes way back.
