Sadly, the rumors circulating Lincoln, Nebraska that hinted at a return to the sideline for Billy Clyde Gillispie have proven to be false. According to Cornhusker coach Doc Sadler, Billy Gillispie’s alleged best friend and his high school class’ “Most Likely to Stick Up a Saloon”, Clyde will not be joining his staff as an assistant.
“Like I told you before,” Sadler said, “I’ve tried to hire Billy, but it ain’t going to happen.”
Rumors have also circled the city that his return was nixed by AD Tom Osborne, who, when he went to visit the former Kentucky coach, found Gillispie shirtless in his living room, wearing a corn cob hat with this pulled up on his computer. It is highly possible that those rumors are untrue as well. Either way, it appears that 2010-11 is going to get going without Billy Gillispie. Let’s hope he gets his “bounce back” shot next year, which will be just in time for most of his recruits to graduate high school.
