Just received a call from our good friend Matt Jones, who informed me that our wait is over and that it’s been confirmed that the film the team went to see during their Tennessee layover was none other than the Martin Lawrence vehicle Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins.
The film, for those of you unaware, focuses on an uppity Los Angeles talk show host who relocates to join his family in the Deep South — and features star turns from Cedric the Entertainer, Mike Epps and James Earl Jones, among others.
The reviews are in:
“…I laughed until I cried. Not because it was funny, but because laughter hurts my hip.”
“…I laughed so hard that I probably won’t shoot much tonight!”
“…Another triumph by assistant property master Carolyn Lassek!”
“…The refreshing comedy stylings of Mo’Nique make me proud to be a sassy black lady!”
“…I thought we were seeing Atonement. None of those people had British accents. Are you guys sure we were in the right movie?”
