Watch the Auburn game in New York and Austin for DanceBlue

Jack Demsey’s during the Final Four

KSR and UK Alumni groups across the country are teaming up to raise money for DanceBlue while getting together to watch the Cayts.  Thousands of dollars have already been raised in Houston, Dallas, Northern Kentucky, and Birmingham, and more game-watch parties are scheduled in Indianapolis, Charlotte, Louisville, Lexington, Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington D.C.

This coming Saturday, New York and Austin will hold their fundraisers for the Auburn game.

A few details…

New York City:

The rowdy New York alumni group will be watching the game at Jack Demsey’s, my favorite place in the entire world. Vinnie, Erin, Heather and the gang will be partying all day long, as they always do for Kentucky games. There will be raffle prizes and giveaways and a portion of Jack Demsey’s sales will go to DanceBlue. Donations will also be accepted.

If you live in or around the city, I encourage you to watch the game at Demsey’s and contribute to the great cause.  Jack Demsey’s is a very short walk from the Empire State Building at 36 W 33rd Street. Tell everyone I said hello.  I’d give anything to be there with you.

** The fundraiser could be postponed if New York gets a foot of snow.

If you’re in the Austin, Texas area, head over to Third Base Sports Bar downtown to hang out with fellow members of Big Blue Nation before, during and after the game.  The Central Texas UK alumni group will be cheering on the Wildcats while raising money for DanceBlue, and they’d love to have you join them.

I’ve never been to Third Base, the sports bar, but the BBQ salmon and stuffed tots sound amazing.

DanceBlue is a student-run philanthropy at the University of Kentucky. It is a year-long fundraising effort involving thousands of UK students, which culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon on UK’s campus. All of the money raised by DanceBlue goes to the Golden Matrix Fund. DanceBlue has been active for over seven years, raising more than 3 million dollars for the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Clinic and Markey Cancer Center. Every year, over 120 campus organizations and 700 dancers help raise money to support all the DanceBlue families.

Jack Demsey’s is great if you like a cramped bar, a crappy part of NYC, really small TVs, and ridiculous drink prices. Why the NYC UK alumni don’t take over Legends next door, I have no idea. It’s owned by the same guy I think.

Thanks for the shout out! We greatly appreciate your support of the Central Texas UK alumni club. Had many of your followers show up at Fox & Hound last weekend in College Station and we loved seeing our SEC Tailgate picnic photo as your fans of the day last year. KSR, we hope you’ll come party with us if you’re ever in ATX!

For all you Austinites, if you haven’t been to Third Base to cheer on the Cats with us, they have a free parking attached, lots of TVs, great food, and $15 domestic beer buckets. If you’re interested in receiving our club newsletter, email us at [email protected]
