JULIUS is the driving force for the team right now

I seriously wouldnt even care at this point if Julius and Kyle shot 30 three’s per game.. that is our best option

I like Mays, Polson, Wiltjer, and Hood as much as anyone… But if that it is actually the line-up we decide on then we may lose out the rest of the season. Just too challenged defensively and not enough ball handling.

3)If we stick with Poythress and Goodwin we’re going to loose out the rest of the way too. I’d rather loose with Hood and Polson giving 100% than to watch Poythress continue to mope around with his head down and with Goodwin doing his driving against 3 people, running over one of them, turn his back to the basket, through it over his head, fall down, miss the shots.

This year’s team is going to make Coach Cal change the way he recruits. Needs at least 1 Julius or Kyle every recruiting class

6)I think that is the reason he offered Willis for next year. We still need a couple more like that for next year. I guess he will need to know how many of our guys are going pro, or leaving for other reasons, before he can offer too many recruits a scholarship.

    7. Yea i know. Would you, as a fan, prefer a recruiting class every year from like 5-10 and always have quality players coming back with maybe 1 or 2 big namers? i think i would, I dont know though. Past few years have been really sweet.

I like Jarod’s strategy of trying to take more charges but there is not a ref in the country who will call a charge on a UK opponent. We must lead the nation in charging and blocking calls every year. Does Pomeroy keep that stat?

Past teams of Cal’s have taken in the UK Hoops games. Maybe this group should be instructed to go as a team to each of the lady’s home games and hopefully learn some things about fcus, hustle, toughness, etc. Just saying.

I’m with #9. Since all the pub and hype surrounding the DDO
arrived and is out there for the refs to hear, we are way
behind any S-curve there is for “blarges”. Wish there was
someone to do the work and get those stats. Cost us that
IU game last year and I think is in our guys head now
and since early in the year and why they look so funky in the lane.

Cal looks defeated, I hope they respnd and at least play hard, hopefully Goodwin doesnt hog the ball and goes 1 on 3. Hopefully Alex doesnt fall out or steps on the base line 2 or 3 times.

It is sad to see that this is where UK basketball is today. Are you kidding me? No other D1 program would have these two (a mid major transfer and an NAIA level player) speaking on behalf of their teams as representatives. Next year can NOT get here fast enough!

    13. When my brother-in-law talk on the phone after each game I tell him I have never seen a player step on the base line as much as Alex. He is a great kid and has all the talent in the world but the thing that is missing in his game is focus, focus, focus!!!!

Cal is the best coach is basketball, period. If he cannot get it out of these players, its simply not in them. I bet that Cal could have taken Georgetown Colleges’ players and coached them as hard as he has coached these guys and be better this time of the year than we are right now.

16 – 14 is right, you f’in moron. We aren’t even going to make the NCAA tournament. Which is what happened when BCG was the coach. And Eddie Sutton’s last year. That is absolutely NOT ACCEPTABLE. It’s pathetic actually. Now YOU go root for someone else!

imo we gotta attempt the break at every opportunity…we don’t score enough if we always accept playing half court every possession…Mays Polson Hood Wiltjer and Willie… then Poy, a little Goodwin, no Harrow, and Lanter and Malone.

Cal is obviously still trying to figure this team out. AG and AP are not going to change, at least not anytime soon. I question their desire to be here. AP is very clearly unhappy. I don’t know if it’s with himself or if its homesickness or coach Cal’s coaching style isn’t what he responds to. It can’t be with how he is being utilized because he is constantly given opportunities to do more and the team needs him to be more involved. Regardless it is clearly visible how unhappy he is. WCS’s effort is there every play; he just needs to continue to develop. JM, JP and JH are all hustlers and play hard, they simply lack the level of talent needed to compete at a high level. For this team to improve AG and AP have to “get it” right now and there is no indication of that happening. By improve I mean, have a chance at winning another basketball game. Expecting an NCAA bid is simply not realistic at this juncture in the season which is a good thing for this group. All of that pressure is removed; all that is expected of them now is to demonstrate improvement on the floor. This is not a team that is capable of putting up a bunch of points. AG has no jump shot which is why he reverts to driving to the basket regardless of the situation. AP’s head isn’t on straight so defense and basketball fundamentals are the only areas where they can improve this year. Ball movement, shot selection, execution of the offence, setting solid screens, weak side help defense, blocking out and rebounding, being in proper position and overall attitude are areas to focus on at this point. If we are to win another game this year, these are the areas that will have to improve. If AG and AP have made up their mind they are gone after this year what we saw at Tennessee is what we will see in the few games we have left. There is no coaching through that. This is Cal’s team and I expect he has learned a lot. I look for him to take this year into account as he maps out his recruiting approach moving forward as many have suggested. His reluctance to not have 12 players on the team who all deserve to play must change. The reason; they may appear to deserve to play against high school competition but there is no forecasting tool to determine how they adjust to the pressures of playing at a level required by a program like UK, combined with the challenge of playing bigger, stronger and faster players and for the first time since 8th grade, not being able to do whatever they want at any time on the floor. Cal is correct; you get exposed in programs like Kentucky, but especially here. If three of the six recruits are slow to adjust or never do and you have to rely on players like JM, JP and JH to play significant minutes well ……

Why isn’t Poythress ever available for comment? Interesting to here his take on this debacle.

No offense to Jarrod and Julius – I love the way they get the most out of their abilities – but it is a startling statement about the rest of the players when those two guys become our team spokesmen. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Harrow and Poythress on another college team next year. If they don’t want to compete with the likes of UT, I’m afraid they won’t want to compete with the caliber of players we’re bringing in next year.

At a time like this it is too bad that Pat Riley and Thad Jaracz could not spend a few minutes with these guys…they don’t get it. Those two did. If they took heed in what Riles and Thad said, no telling how good they could be.

Riley said: “When you go there you go with pride. When you leave, you realize it was a privilege.” I will give the current guys the benefit of the doubt that they came with pride. But, if all the freshman left today, I am not sure they would think it was a privilege. Cal’s first three teams got that it was a privilege…this group…maybe only Nerlens of all the frosh got it.

Jaracz said: “I was just glad to be there…I did whatever Adolph told me to do.” Listen up…Cal is trying to tell you. Thad Jaracz at 1/10 of the skill of any of the frosh, but one thing he had that all frosh except Nerlens do not and that is pride in that jersey. Honor that they are so lucky to playing at Kentucky. Jaracz went through a wall for Coach Rupp. How many guys, regardless of the class, would go through the wall for Cal.
