It’s wedding season. Don’t worry, I won’t get all “Say Yes to the Dress” on you, but this particular wedding deserves a KSR mention. I’ve heard of several weddings where the bride and groom come out to the UK fight song, pictures of the bridal party doing “C-A-T-S,” etc., but this one may take the cake. The John Wall cake, that is.
Over the weekend, Landon Bishop and his bride, Tawanda, walked down the aisle and into the reception hall, where Bishop was surprised to see not one, but three Kentucky basketball-themed cakes on the table, one in the form of John Wall’s UK jersey. Bishop, a lifelong Kentucky fan, was obviously thrilled, and shared pictures of the cake with Coach Calipari and Wall via Twitter on Monday. The Dagger’s Jeff Eisenberg saw the pictures and interviewed Bishop, who proved his fanhood with anecdotes about locking himself in a closet and crying after “The Shot” in ’92 and requiring his family to wear blue on gamedays.
Although Tawanda refused Bishop’s request to wear a Kentucky blue wedding gown (smart girl), she did sport some big blue heels and of course, a Wildcat garter. Best part? To get a piece of the John Wall cake, Bishop required guests to do the John Wall dance.
