Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Want a name you haven’t heard yet? How about Willie Cauley.

Chatted for a few minutes with recruiting mega-star Evan Daniels this afternoon and got 2 good notes from him about UK recruiting.  First, I simply asked him if there was any worry about UK not having any commitments yet for the Class of 2012 (sans Harrow).  He simply responded with “Nope, no worries.”  So for those who have started voicing concerns about that fact, Daniels would know, and he says no worries.

Secondly, he gave me the name WILLIE CAULEY as somebody that Kentucky is at least looking at.  It’s a name that hasn’t been mentioned here on KSR, but Evan confirmed that Orlando Antigua was watching Cauley at the Summer Jam Tournament last week.  He gave me this rundown of what kind of player Cauley is:

“One of the more intriguing post prospects in the 2012 class, Cauley is long, athletic and runs the floor with ease. He has great touch around the rim and appears to be taking the necessary steps in his development.”

Cauley is currently ranked #36 overall in the Class of 2012 and comes from Olathe, Kansas.  He lists a slew of schools on his interest list, including Kansas and Kansas State, but Kentucky has yet to crack it.  But trust me, if Daniels says there is at least interest, there is some interest.  And even if there is nothing to report here, it does give me a chance to post another awesome highlight video:

cant really tell how talented he is in the video, he seems about a foot taller than
anyone guarding him. If Calipari is interested, he’s prolly pretty good though.

Seems like his hops aren’t the greatest, and he stands around a lot. I agree with #1, he is either 7ft 6inch or everyone else is under 6 ft. Who knows, but if he signs with the CATS maybe he will prove me wrong.

Another center prospect 3-4 year kid. After the staff’s work with Jorts all of these bigs; Mitch McGary, Kaleb Tarczewski and Willie Cauley all seem more attractive and more interested in UK.

This is unrelated but according to CBS, David Salinas (the man accused of running the ponzi scheme), has committed suicide.

I think alot of times Cals staff shows interest in kids just to make the local team spend time “guarding” their recruiting ground. I think sometimes Cal f’s with other coaches just to have them take their eye off another prize that Cal really wants.

    7. And Eloy is a back up, every team needs quality depth. Thats better than Wu, Shagari, Mark Curry and the other back ups we have had recently.

For the record BTI, Olathe, KS is Kansas City. For some reason out west all the suburbs want to be called by their city names instead of letting the rest of the world know where they’re from. Olathe is the equivalent of J-town to Louisville. No one from J-town would say that they’re from J-town, KY, but for some reason these nimrods out here don’t get it! He’s from Kansas City.
