Walter McCarty isn’t actually trying to sell his Championship rings

Screen shot 2013-06-17 at 9.24.55 AM

We now interrupt your weeknight for a follow-up to an earlier story. This morning, we reported that Walter McCarty was attempting to sell his 1996 National Championship rings (both the one from the NCAA and the one given to the team by the school back in February. Well, it turns out that Walter McCarty is NOT trying to sell his rings, and is actually working diligently to get them back. Brooks Downing (@BrooksDowning) spoke with Walter, who said the whole incident was a misunderstanding with a family member.

Is this the same type of misunderstanding as when Walter McCarty decided to become an assistant coach at Louisville and recruit against Kentucky?

I’m still sticking to my earlier #63 comment on the earlier post today.

If Walt wanted to get the most money for his rings and he was so in need of money, then why wouldnt he let BBN in on it where he would get 5 X the money. Come on, now, a pawn shop? No way.

Once again KSR taking news and posting it without checking it out first or thinking of the consequences. When will they learn that a ton of people read this and they have quite the influence on how UK is perceived. Appreciate everything KSR does, but lately has been a little too quick to jump the gun, especially with football news. Seems like they are scared because they don’t have the sources pay sites do. As quick as they opened up a great place to find uk info, they may shut down some sources because they leak too sensitive of information.

I say horse hockey. He seen the BBN turning on him yet again, and he had to choose between selling them, and forever have the Cat fans against him, or pull them back and save face. At least for the time being, he has chosen the latter.

I contacted bostonpawnshop.net and they had no comment on the rings. That is the pawn shop in Boston.
