Time to forget about the football game. What football game? See, exactly.
Not sure if you guys has heard yet, but BASKETBALL NEVER STOPS…at least not for these awesome pros from Kentucky. John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins took their hetero-life-partnership on the road yet again to show the world that they’ve got no intentions of taking a break from basketball. Wall, Cousins, and the rest of the Goodman League All Stars travelled to Indianapolis and beat the Knox Indy Pro Am team 170-167. The Matt Jones/KSR Barnstorming Tour was obviously a much more popular and talented traveling show, but the ‘Ball For It All Classic’ had some great highlights.
The usual suspects were on the Goodman League team sans Durant. Another Kentucky connection made an appearance: Shelvin Mack teamed up with Wall and faced off against his former teammate Gordon Hayward. John Wall recorded a triple-double (41 pts, 12 ast, 11 reb) and was named MVP. Eric Gordon dropped 40 of his own for Indy. DeMarcus had a UK-like statline of 33 pts, 15 rebs. IndyCornRows.com blogger dropped this line that shows some maturity from Cousins against a very, very good NBA player in Zach Randolph.
Z-Bo seemed to be getting under his skin in the second quarter, but Cousins kept it together all night and ended up getting the better of the matchup. (source)
Randolph had a phenomenal season last year, ending with a player run where he could not miss a shot in the fourth quarter. We already knew this, but Cousins getting the best of Z-Bo shows he is going to hang with the best in the league for a while. Even better, he may be working on keeping his calm in tense game situations better than before. The only nasty thing Boogie did was throw down a ridiculous dunk on Z-Bo. But, as they say, haters gonna hate no matter what.
