I wish UK wouldn’t keep promoting these rap stars – they are a bad influence on our players and fans. Bring back the cloggers, and have Barry Manilow perform during Madness, please.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to eat my tapioca and watch ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ reruns with the volume turned all the way up.

    15. It’s ignorant to think that just because someone doesn’t like rap or rappers that they are old or grey-hairs. Rap music is awful, the lyrics are stupid and vulgar and if you ever hear most rappers talk in real life they are just as stupid and uneducated as their lyrics would suggest. You know what most of these big time “musicians” have in common? A criminal record.

I’m fine with Coach Cal doing this stuff for the players, because unfortunately those are the people that the younger generation “respect”. I just wish people (including writers on this site) would stop promoting and pimping these meetings, and acting like they are “role models” and great people just because they like Coach Cal.

    FYI, I’m 22….

Back in the early 80’s, pre Geraldine Ferrao, if Joe B. were friends with Bono, and the Michael’s Stipe..,,Mills & Peter Buck, without question… I’d have signed at UofK.

Given that I have had rock n’ roll drumstick lobotomize my forebrain, with melodic recognition, “c’rap” does not compute.

This is hilarious. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, some rappers are absolutely genious with their lyrics as well as the overall message. These so called “bad influences” made their own way in the music industry. Rappers are similar to that of a basketball player in that they are typically young individuals chasing their dreams. If our players are impressed with the meeting why should we not be? This is just another example of how Cal has the upperhand in recruiting. We have rappers giving us street cred across the nation. Not only that, they shout us out and give recognition to individuals. Haters gonna hate!

Well, google this guy’s lyrics and you’ll see just another punk who rakes in the millions by disrespecting women, profanity, drug references and plenty of N-word peppered in his ‘songs.’

I’m guessing that if Romney wins on Tuesday – Cal will encourage his Cats to join the national thug riot in the street because it’s the Hip thing to do.

Cal continues to win – continues to make fools out of UK fans, and continues to make the rebuilding project for the next coach an even more formidable task.

Rap music is what kids listen to when they get ready for games…you don’t hear them listening to country or rock…Calipari is a genius if the players on the team or future recruits don’t already like the other rappers we have around the program Jayz and Drake I guarantee they like Wale pronounced Wah-Lay…you don’t have to be ignorant because somebody listens to rap I promise you not all rappers are stupid, so when recruits see these pics of the team and rappers its makes them think not only am I gonna be on national television every game but I have every scout in America , actor and rapper watching me play and practice. That’s why we don’t lose many recruits, so quit sayin these dumb comments people…Cal has an agenda for everything and if he does something watch it or listen up, you might learn something about marketing or advertising so quit being negative and LISTEN for once…

I understand a lot of players listen to rap. But Cal’s embracing of that culture is in essence condoning a culture of violence, drugs, degrading women and other unsavory aspects.

No one is suggesting that Cal ban all rap music from his players’ Ipods. But he is disrespecting the fan base, former players and the university by dragging the university into the gutter with these crass rappers and their lifestyles.

57 – join the crowd. I’ll bet you Cal didn’t know who Wale was until somebody on staff did some research and let him know he’s popular. So obviously Cal then orders up a UK jersey for Wale, invites him to campus and embraces him to be part of the UK program.

No background check, no concern about this guy’s racist, profane, anti-women lyrics. It’s all about being hip to 16-17 year-old kids.

But – the collective UK fan base, blinded by Cal’s charm and success – simply continue to lower their standards, lower their guard – and chant in unison – “Cal gets it!”

So sad that only a few of us watch from a far and know our words of warning are simply ignored.

Anyone who thinks this is demeaning to the program is just flat out stupid. How does this hurt our program? How does this make our players thugs? As far as I can see Cal consistently brings in guys who have great character and are also at the top of their class. Everyone should quit their bitching and enjoy the ride while you can. Turn the TV on any day of the week now and watch a former KY Wildcat go at it with the best of the best in the NBA. I cant believe what I am reading on this site! Why even come read this site if this is how you feel? I mean talk about unnapreciative. I am glad that anyone with half a effin brain can understand what we have going on here is special and to enjoy it while you can. No program in basketball has ever made this quick of a turn around. We are the most followed and envied team in college hoops for God sakes what more can you ask for. For those of you who have an issue with what is going on here with our program just please stop watching or caring. We dont need your ill minded thoughts to be heard and misrepresent our fan base. Have a great week!
