Can’t wait to talk to Mark Pope at Peach Jam. I see him there every year and the first time we spoke I said I knew him from his days at UK. He was not surprised to hear that. Super guy and that was awesome. He kept the uniform. And still fits in it. That was great.

I was standing outside the main entrance to the hotel when the team bus arrived from the arena after the championship game.
Pope and I did a big chest bump!
What I nice guy…he appeared to really enjoy his time at UK.

Ala Bob Hope, Thanks for The Memories. I’ve been a fan Since 1948. That video, especially the Pope portion, really made me smile. As Bob Hope would say, Thanks for The Memories. Go Big Blue, I still have hopes that this year will be a memorial one. However, if it doesn’t , I will always be a Big Blue Fan, Always.

Oh my gosh I loved that. What wonderful memories these guys gave all the BBN. I laughed and got misty eyed at the same time. Mark Pope was great, but Alan Edwards was pretty awesome too. Loved it!!!! Thanks so much.

Mark Pope was…and always will be…AWESOME. I’m sure he’s coaching somewhere and would not be surprised at all too someday see him back on the bench in Lexington. Him drawing the fifth foul on Cuse’s best player in the final minutes still sticks out to me. And for a big man, he ALWAYS hit his FT’s. Anyway, that team is still, to this day, the best and most dominant in college basketball history. No doubt in my mind.

Mark Pope is truly a renaissance man. Dude was taking pre-med classes while still in the NBA, enrolls in med school at Columbia and then gets back to b’ball. I’m thankful he found his way to Lexington & glad to see he bleeds as blue as the rest of us.

    #18. Loved Edwards memory.

Living in Louisville, after we won ’96 I’d saddle up to my UL friends and chant ” who’s in da house tonight?…….UK!!”. Still do it after some big victories.

    That was so classic.

We need to make that a fan chant at games…especially when we are on the road kicking ass!!! Cheerleaders can start it and fans can finish

If you remember Nazr when he arrived in Lex then it’s hard to fathom that he’s the ONLY ’96-98 alum still playing in The Association. Just crazy. Nazr has carved out quite he career and made some serious bank in the process.

Pope and Edwards are awesome. Glad to see they’re doing well in coaching. Pope especially is a guy who’ll succeed at anything he tries. I’d look for him back at UK in the future.

    Go CATS!
