Via KSRCollege’s Andrew McCarthy:
Yesterday in the News and Views on the main site, Drew linked to the Herald-Leader’s story on Marcus Lee’s high school volleyball career. After reading it, being the truth-seeking young journalist that I am, I went digging for video evidence (read: typed in “marcus lee volleyball” on YouTube). The results? Gold. Pure gold. The video, which I’ve included below, is a 90ish-second recap of one of his high school matches from last Spring… And it is magical. Watch. Immediately.
Some quick takeaways:
–Shockingly good production value. I was half-expecting the video quality to be similar to the Mexican birthday party footage in Signs, but it’s actually pretty legit. Fancy Sportscenter-style graphics and everything.
-That being said, the commentator makes an MC Hammer reference that almost entirely invalidates the quality of the video itself. She should be ashamed of herself. You’ve been warned.
-Marcus comes up with a pretty sick one-handed dig, and a HUGE kill, but his serving could use a little bit of work.
-I’ve apparently acquired a more-than-passable knowledge of the sport from all those years of watching Olympic beach volleyball.
-I miss Misty and Kerri already. True American heroes, both of them.
Anyway, the whole thing is worth watching, if only to scratch your recruiting-relating itch. It has, after all, been a whole two days since a 5-star recruit last committed to the Cats. Don’t take my word for it though, see for yourself:
