Veteran official John Cahill retiring

The hardwood just became a little bit safer for John Calipari. Longtime referee John Cahill announced that he is retiring from officiating to become the new supervisor of officials for the new Big East Conference.
Cahill, 60, has been officiating basketball for forty years. The last game he officiated was the National Championship between Louisville and Michigan, which was also his 11th Final Four. Cahill officiated twenty UK games since 2006-2007, including four last season: at Louisville on December 29; at Alabama on January 22; South Carolina on February 5 and Vandy on February 20. If you’ll remember, he gave John Calipari a technical during that Louisville game, and also T’d up Willie Cauley-Stein and Ryan Harrow during the Vandy game.
Happy trails, Cahill. Don’t worry, Doug Shows will pick up your slack.

Good, now if we can get the rest of the corp of crappy refs to quit or retire the game might actually improve a bit. Shows, Luckie, etc.. See ya..
Sorry, bud. There’s only room for one John “Cal” in NCAA b’ball.
Any chance he can take Karl Hess, Doug Shows, TV Teddy and Jamie Luckie with him? Say hi to our old pal Clougherty, why don’t you?
I wish that POS doug shows would retire…
Now if we could get rid of Doug Shows.
What no more pictures of you guys and UL players?
Cahill is actually a pretty fair official. He doesn’t get in the players way and does very little to bring attention to himself. Jamie Luck is the one I can’t stand, worse than Shows.
The worst ones are still around, and who’s coming to replace him. Sometimes it’s better to dance with the devil you know.
Good riddance Cahill, don’t let the door hit you, even though I’m not sure you can fit through the door with that huge ego.
#6 You got to pay the troll toll
10- how am I trolling? Jus tired of UL pictures and posts… If I was trolling I’d be glad to see UL crap… Thank you for your concern though
I think he was Pitinos guest at the awards banquet?
This post makes no mention of UL yet you are unhappy. Therefore you must pay the troll toll.
Cahill was one of the referees in the National Championship game. I guess when he was told about the goal tending call he missed in the 1st minute he figured might as well go out on a high note.
Figures…..take one of the worse to ever tote a whistle and wear a striped shirt and make him director of officials for the Big East. At least we won’t have to endure his inefficient performance as a referee any longer.
