Good luck warrior. I still think this will be a bad bruise, and nothing season or career ending. Maybe miss a game or two, but we can’t win a single game without him. Talk about an MVP. We’re praying for you Nerlens.

#4 – You can’t rupture a patella. It’s a bone. You can break it, and that would be season ending, but take your BS and get the F out of here.

    37. But to get the senior leaders, we have to weather through the early careers. Remember when Miller was Disappearius? People called him a scrub sometimes. Quality four year talent isn’t quality its first year because if it is, it leaves. WCS was meant to be 2 years, at least. Wiltjer will likely graduate and shows signs of becoming something decent. Poole left. Willis will be here a while. Cal always recruits one guy he knows won’t be drafted quickly.

BBN never forgets. #LaFamilia You troll so often here, how can you miss the constant interaction with former players? ’78 champions just took a standing O at last home game. ’96 champs same earlier this year. Not just champs either. All former players get a warm welcome from a knowledgeable and appreciative fan base. That’s the #KentuckyEffect. Since the description doesn’t fit your team’s fan base, it’s understandable you are perpetually butt-hurt.

Could have Nerlens’ injury been prevented if the

Other than a serious, serious injury, what would cause a tough guy like Noel with a very high tolerance for pain, to scream like he had his knee cut off with a chain saw?

Given his in uncharacteristic screaming, I’d say something is horribly wrong with his knee.

  53. ukmd
    11:03 pm February 12, 2013 Permalink

Nerlens had complete rupture of his patellar tendon. This is a common injury when landing on a straight leg when the quadriceps is flexed. The knee looked “popped out” because the kneecap is no longer anchored to the tibia and will elevate from its normal position. He will have surgery in the next few days and will be 100% in 6 months.

  55. CatsfaninFL
    11:04 pm February 12, 2013 Permalink

Ruptured patellar tendon is a fully detatched….I.e. your kneecap is up at the base of your thigh. You know pretty quick bc you can’t lift your leg. Happened to me 3 yrs ago. If true, he will be out for season but bc of how they fix it, one of the better knee injuries to have.

If torn patella tendon, that seems very similar to what Kelenna (Azubuike) endured a few yrs ago while playing in NBA (for Warriors?)??

Sadly, that injury proved VERY costly, as Kelenna hasn’t been same since??

First let me start by saying I’m a true blue fan and lover KSR but… Dammit, I for one, don’t to see pictures of Noel on the floor. Yes, I’m angry over the game and it was heartwarming to see the team help Noel off the floor but by God some of these players need to grow some balls like him and stop letting other teams just rip the ball out of our hands. If we’re bad then we’re bad but have some heart and fight back!! And for the people calling in on these call-in shows asking if they think Noel will be back next year, you selfish greedy SOB’s need to grow a line beard, buy a Cards shirt and get you ass on down the road…

  69. Hope he's okay
    11:30 pm February 12, 2013 Permalink

#55 is correct, you can’t lift your leg with a complete patellar rupture. It connects your knee cap to your lower leg bone. It’s a very thick tendon, so when it ruptures completely, your knee cap shoots up your thigh and the lower leg would just hang uncontrolled if you were lifted. His knee pad would be the only thing to stabilize it.

Noel’s leg didn’t appear to be “hanging” when he was lifted, which gives me hope that the pain was from being hit on the knee cap and not a patellar rupture. That’s very painful but may not be a bad injury. Also, he probably couldn’t be carried if it were patellar. He would have needed a stretcher.

If it is patellar, he should be able to recover fully in a year but hope it’s not that bad.

    66) The BBN was here before you, it will be here long after you, stop attacking the fans. We are fans of the team, we want what’s best for the team. Yes, we don’t blame players for going early if they can get the money, but we still want the team to be great. That’s how fans work, if you don’t like it, stop being a fan of the team and follow a single player throughout his career.

  71. CatsfaninFL
    11:36 pm February 12, 2013 Permalink

#69-agreed. Also not sure if it was just me, but mine severed everything immediately including nerves so my pain was limited…makes me think it could be partial tear or something else given pain he seemed to be in.

  72. Enough Already
    11:40 pm February 12, 2013 Permalink

    70) Apparently you took my comment the wrong way so you must feel like you’re in the group that I’m talking about. Yes, BBN was here and will be here long after I’m gone. I’m not just pulling for Noel but UK as a whole. I want the best for the kid and if you honestly think the best for a #1 draft pick is to stay at UK another year so you can brag about another championship is just wrong. UK will also be here long after Noel and will continue it’s greatness starting next year. We’re hanging a banner with or without him. For his and his families sake I wish him well and hopes he makes the right decision which in my opinion is moving on. He’s ready.

  73. NoelFan
    11:51 pm February 12, 2013 Permalink

I agree that Noel should move on. He is a great player and deserves a career in the NBA. Who’s to say he wouldn’t have a career ending injury if he were to return next year? The only thing I don’t like about the one and done rule is players make millions for their college team at 18 but aren’t allowed to go to the NBA until they’re 19. I wish the best of luck to Noel in his recovery and his career in the NBA.

  74. Good grief!

Let’s not guess, just wait untill we get a update on him in the morning, and just hope he’s ok. That kid has been the only player that has been consistant this year, let’s just hope for the best for him.

  75. Ugly
    7:59 am February 13, 2013 Permalink

Even with Noel in the game we were way over matched. It was just difficult to watch young kids floundering around acting like they were playing basketball. After the recent years of success this is just, just, simply awful. As for the team in general, how can it be that difficult for someone that is almost 7 feet tall to miss a shot from 6 inches away from the basket. Blocking shots might be spectacular, but scoring is the name of the game. We just don’t have anyone that can consistently score. When you play like we are playing, you are not going to get any calls from the refs.

That camera angle is useless anyway…get those guys the hell out of there. The game is so much quicker now, they need more room to land and recover. I hope for the best for Nerlens. With knee injuries its hard to tell what damage is done. No matter what the injury, he can come back. May take him a while but may end up being better for it. Lets hope for the best and wish him a speedy recovery. They have some new procedures now that make the knee stronger than it was before the injury. Lattimore is way ahead of schedule and looks to be able to compete at a pro level and that looked as bad as it could get.My prayers and thoughts are with him.
