UK’s Fake Field Goal May Look Familiar

The above video will look familiar to Wildcat fans, as it is the identical play the special teams ran to score against Florida to tie it up at 7 each. If you watch the video you may realize that it is not a coincidence that they look so similar – the LSU touchdown came in 2007 when Brady Dale Peveto, the current UK Special Teams coach, was an assistant. That LSU team won a national championship, so maybe there is something to be said about a team running trick plays. Video quality has come a long way since 2007 and I will put up Joe Mansour against Colt David in a footrace. Compare it to UK’s below and see who tricked it better (Trick love da kids).

It looks like smart coaching play too me and it took guts to do it. Coach Stoops said he did many reps in practice in preparation for this execution this past week, and it paid off! It was the play of the day!

You have to admire Coach Stoops for taking a chance on a gutsy call…

Philly Eagles did the same play about six or so years ago with Lex native David Akers running the ball.

Clemson did this back in 2004 when they played at Miami. Jad Dean was the K then. That was the first time I had seen it.
