UK To Get New $45 Million Football Practice Facility

This was posted on the UK website today and is confirmation of a new $45 million UK Football Practice facility that will be built on campus. Sources tell KSR this facility will be built with private money and will be “state of the art” for college football. We will know more about it on Friday.

Recruiting and facilities are the two most important things if Kentucky wants to turn around the football program. Stoops and co. have knocked it out of the park with recruiting, they just need to start winning in order to sustain it.
CWS getting upgrades along with the recruiting room and the new practice facilities are taking care of the second part. Glad to see UK finally keeping their promises on committing to football!
Nice timing with the Elam announcement coming on Thursday.
Yahtzee?
Yahtzee.
Dante Exum just declared for the NBA draft
I am good with the upgrade and think we definitley need to keep pace with the other schools in the SEC as far as facilities. However, I think many fans will want to see some results!!!
Awesome. It looks like people at UK are getting it now. Cant put the cart before the horse. Have to get a competent head coach (which i think they have), the recruits to get the job done (which are on their way), and facilities that are up to par with the rest of the SEC in order to compete.
Glad we arent having to wait for football success to get these things. I think we are on our way to at least moving out of the cellar and into the middle of the SEC, which is saying a lot. Middle SEC teams are very successful programs, and I believe UK football will be a program everyone in the state can be proud of in the coming years. Go Cayts!
Just for comparisons sake Tennessee completed a $45 million facility a little less then a year ago and that included a indoor practice field. So this will definitely be a first class facility, below is a link to what UT got just to give you an idea of what to expect out of this project.

Wow! They got all that for $45 million? That is pretty bad a$$. Did they have to build the indoor practice field, or add to it like we will? That could be a big advantage since we already have ours. Blows my mind that UGA doesn’t even have an indoor field.
Cue the .edu community to start bitching in 3, 2, 1……
Just some food for thought. Season parking permits at UK Football games just became a much bigger premium. With the new club level area, parking will be assigned to them with their purchases and now with the new practice facility construction, this should lower capacity on blue lot and purple lot. Some fans are going to have to accept that things they want for UK football to have what it needs to be successful means you the fan will have to pay a premium and lose some things.
Most important things for fans to insure they don’t lose items is to renew season tickets and do all you can to increase your k fund priority points to give yourself a chance in the reseating of the stadium and not lose a parking permit if you had one. Also, if do have one, do not give it up as it will be 100x harder to get back moving forward.
It looks like they plan to re-work the parking lots (add a structure and even some new lots).
Here is the University Master Plan to give an idea of what they are thinking. I like the baseball stadium right there too. That facility is long overdue as well.

Nice find BillDozer!
Yes, nice find! That looks great. It will really address a bunch of my concerns on a lot of things. Wow, future looks bright for UK Athletics.
F’ing Awesome! Absolutely great news!
What will happen to the nutter fieldhouse?
Nothing. It will be part of the New Facility. They’re essentially adding onto the Nutter Fieldhouse. Nutter is still in terrific shape and is still one of the nicest Indoor Facilities in the SEC
Too bad you can’t buy me…
why waste the money? they will still be really awful
False. UK football will improve. You; however, will continue to be awful.
Look for Texas Tech transfer Michael Brewer to take a hard look at the Cats. Eligible to play immediately. Several big offers coming out of high school in Texas.
