— The road to the Olympics got off to a good start Tuesday for the Dominicans. Coach Cal’s Dominican Republic National Team defeated Cuba 90-60 in the first game of the FIBA Americas Tournament. Al Horford scored a game-high 24 points on 12-18 shooting from the field. Our favorite player, Jack Michael Martinez, recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The team advances to face Venezula tomorrow morning at 10:30 AM. Set your alarm.
— Purdue head coach Matt Painter, who coached the USA in the World University games, had some nice things to say about Darius Miller and UK:
“That staff has done a great job with him because he’s really made improvements in all areas of his game. … He’s a great teammate and a good person. I think Kentucky’s got an unbelievable chance to go far this year, if not win it all. If Darius Millers is one of your guys in the mix, with a lot of young talent, he’s going to do a great job helping to piece things together because he’s that quintessential teammate.”
Darius played in all eight games for USA and started in five of them, averaging 5.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in just over 18 minutes per game. Miller believes the experience he gained with Team USA has prepared him to lead his young team back in Lexington, just as Coach Painter said.

Big Cuz is one of many NBA talents considering a contract overseas. NBA big wigs really need to start salvaging this season before guys get comfortable on the other side of the ocean.

— Because it’s so easy to predict the postseason before the actual season starts, CBS already released its first bowl predictions. Just go ahead and pencil us in for the Music City Bowl in any other bowl projections. Another year, another Tennessee bowl.
