UK plans second in-home visit with Selby

Kentucky has now scheduled a second in-home visit with Josh Selby, according to Maeshon Witherspoon, his mother. Last night, assistant coaches Rod Strickland and Orlando Antigua visited with Selby and his mother, but on the 24th, the entire coaching staff will be making an appearance at their home. So while last night surely held significance with the family, next Thursday should be the more traditional of the in-home visits, in which the family will be able to get a closer look at head coach Calipari and also learn what their plans are for Selby. We’ll keep you updated on what happened during both of the visits, after the last of the visits occur next week.

Other recruiting news:

– One of many wing targets that the Cats showed interest in this summer, Jeremy Lamb, committed to UConn this week. Lamb had claimed an offer from UK after his incredible performance at the Peach Jam this summer. Although, after that, he never seemed to show much interest in the Cats, instead paying most of his attention to his eventual school of choice. With Keala King making a recent commitment to Arizona State and Cameron Clark knocking his list down to three and cutting out the Cats, one has to wonder if the wing position will be filled by one of the rumored signings by November and the news of UK no longer looking around has spread. It would seem that Doron Lamb and Stacey Poole are those targets and UK is confident that the spots they need filled will be taken up by those two.

– Zag’s blog spoke to Kyrie Irving’s father Drederick, who said that his son will visit Kentucky sometime in October. That would place UK in a good spot with Kentucky, although it has long been thought that if Irving took at least 3 or 4 visits this fall, Kentucky would probably be one of them. With Oct. 2nd taken up by Indiana and Oct. 9th being used for Texas A&M, I believe the bigger news to be the possibility that Irving will be spending Midnight Madness in Lexington. Personally, I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to give Irving his first look at Lexington. Also, if Madness isn’t the target, with the way Irving’s visits are seeming to be planned, the other option would probably be getting the last visit with Irving on the 2nd to last or last weekend of October. Either situation is good for the Cats.

– From the Shiver, we get news that Adreian Payne will be rescheduling his visit with Kansas. It was previously going to occur on October 23rd but now, according to Payne’s head coach, it will probably be happening the last weekend of October or the first weekend of November. No reason was given for the switch.
