Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

UK is one of’s “Five Football Teams On The Rise”

Mark Stoops is getting it done at Kentucky.  You know it.  I know it.  And now Sports Illustrated knows it. named five college football programs on the rise and your University of Kentucky Wildcats made the list:

KENTUCKY: (Up 25 spots to No. 37 from No. 62)

The Skinny: It is the work of Mark Stoops, plain and simple. Despite the lukewarm recruiting of former coach Joker Phillips, Stoops has made Lexington an attractive football destination — a rare feat indeed. He has re-doubled his efforts on kids who were on the fence and has made a run at players who were not initially interested in Kentucky. There is a buzz in Lexington now and this is a class that is showing it already.

Quotable: “Part of this rise is just a recent run, because before Mark Stoops got there this was a pretty down class. He got a couple of high-profile junior college players including four-star Za’Darius Smith, and then went into Ohio and got three kids, Jaleel Hytchye, Kyle Meadows and Lovell Peterson. I think that he found a perfect plan and is going after it. He didn’t give up on this class and is showing he can get players into Kentucky.” – Woody Wommack, Southeastern region analyst

It really is amazing what Stoops has done in just 52 days on the job. He has us talking about football in mid-January.

It’s encouraging. I am hopeful we look more competent on the field, I just hope some tough losses with our tough schedule doesn’t slow the momentum. I think moving to the 4-3 will help slow some teams down and Neal Brown can turn things around quickly. I would be thrilled with 5 wins and no losses by more than 21.

You know UK is headed in the right direction when UofL fans troll unbiased national recruiting heads about their positive UK statements. #TrollSoHard

    From Clay Travis:

The five dumbest fan bases in America are:

    1a. Kentucky

    1b. Alabama

    3. Arkansas

    4. Notre Dame

    5. Pittsburgh Steelers

So all five of these fan bases would believe anything a person in a position of authority told them. For instance, if John Calipari was caught giving a player a suitcase full of cash on film, and then came out and said, “We were just filming a YouTube video to show players how not to take suitcases full of cash from me.”

UK fans would take to the Internet and spout the talking points until they were blue in the face.

Is Clay Travis really gay? Seriously, they talked about it on Fox SPorts w. Jay Mar (sp.) saying that he said Teo was gay like him.

Clay Travis is not very bright. He and I used to argue constantly about Bruce Pearl with him maintaing that Pearl was going to dominate the Cats in the years to come. He shut up when Meeks laid 54 on the Vols at the Thompson Bowling Arena. Little know fact….Travis loves pink dolphins. I know this because I did some free artwork for his home page. And he calls Kentucky fans dumb. You can see the jealousy of Kentucky and Alabama in most of his writings. He’s a Vandy grad who loves UT.

I forgot to add that Travis began calling Pearl’s defense, “The Great Wall of Vagina.”

8 – And that makes Clay – and you – a typical hater; he hates on the passionate fan-bases who are proud of a winning tradition. If you’ll notice, 1a and 1b are also at the top of their game in their respective sports. Clay Travis probably hates LeBron James and Albert Pujols, too. He’s also just pissy UT sucks.

17 – Calling me a hater is laughable. UK football season ticket holder since the 80’s and hardcore UK basketball fan. I was just passing along what he said.

UL just lost to a sunbelt team last year, and lost to teams w losing records this year, just because you beat a over rated FL team dosent make them out of UKs league, every dog has its day, UK beat a team that won a national championship 5 years ago, UL fans over react to everything, for example being ranked number one, those idiots look for anything to grasp on to that makes them feel better about thier average program, all I see is a bunch of fourth place finishes

27 – The sad thing is I don’t think most UL fans have a clue how historically BAD their football program really is. They are so far removed from reality its unreal. The #1 reason that coaches have left UL is because they are a bottom feeder program with terrible fans that can’t face reality.

The ONLY REASON Charlie Strong stayed was to cash in on one more year of Teddy Bridgewater and a cupcake city schedule. He will leave after next season when the team takes a nose dive after joining the ACC. I see UL going back to being a 3-9 team and taking annual poundings from UK.

  29. putinrichie
    5:56 pm January 18, 2013 Permalink

Without Teddy “$$$$” Bridgewater(who was probably an illegal recruit anyways), UL would NOT have made a bowl game this season. They lost five games by five points or less and were 10-2. Teddy is at least one TD better per game than Will Stein and even UL fans can admit that. They were a Bridgewater injury away from a disaster of a season and a return to the Kragthorpe and Ron Cooper era, but those days will be coming very soon.

#29 historically bad like…uk? Not a bottom feeder program with two BCS trophies and many conference titles, nfl alumnus, and some of the nicest facilities in all of college football, that is an ignorant statment.

  32. putinrichie
    10:33 pm January 18, 2013 Permalink

32 – UL is a joke and their conference titles are complete BS. They are worth about as much as a Liberty Bowl is worth…..nothing. Ask anyone outside the city if Louisville is a historically good football program and you will get a lot of laughs and jokes.
