UK Hoops Will Play #1 Seed UCONN In Elite Eight

The UCONN women’s basketball team will be making their 8th consecutive trip to the Elite Eight after pounding Maryland 76-50 in the East Region Sweet 16 matchup. They will face a familiar foe there in 2nd-seeded Kentucky, the two met in last year’s Elite Eight as well, with the Huskies coming away victorious, 80-65.

The game will be a de facto home game for UCONN in Bridgeport, Connecticut but Kentucky has it’s best team in recent memory coming in and these aren’t the Diana Taurasi or Maya Moore-led Huskies, meaning in short, they CAN be beat. The game will be on ESPN Monday at 7:30pm and Kentucky will attempt to make its first-ever trip to the Final Four after falling one game short in both 2010 and 2012.

Go UK Hoops!!

    Why are they known as UK Hoops? Always wondered that.

    I guess we’ll see if we’ve made up any ground in the separation between really good teams and the 4 or 5 elite teams. I think we are getting closer but I just don’t know if we’re there yet. I’d love to win but if we can keep it in single figures it will mean that we are getting really close to being one of the big boys.(or girls I mean)

    We can beat them but only if they are not on top of their game which happens to favorites quite often. We will need to make free throws and cut down on our turnovers. If we play like we did today they beat us by 20 plus. I do believe our ladies will pull the upset and be Final 4 bound. We have not really played a great game in this tourney and Monday night will be that game.

    The commentators sucked during the game, especially at the last. With 11.8 to go in the game, the commentators continued their love fest with the Delaware players. Not one single word about the UK player sinking both free throws. The babbling was the worst I have heard on TV.

    6 and 10} Well Georgia just beat #1 Stanford 61-59 so there is always a chance and I like our chances. We must play very well and maybe even have UConn be a little off but it just happened for UGA. Go C-A-T-S

    With the slew of mistakes that you repeatedly commit, Will Totten, why do you continue to put your sub-par talents on this website.

    Great season but let’s be real….game will be over by half in all likelihood. It will take a A+ effort by UK and a bad out by uconn.

    @11–I can’t blame you since n

    Since no one follows womens basketball but Stanford is not uconn. In fact uconn beat Stanford by 30 at Stanford.
