UK Hoops will face Delaware at noon on Saturday

This morning, it was announced that UK Hoops will face #6 Delaware Saturday at noon in Bridgeport, Connecticut in the Sweet Sixteen of the Women’s NCAA Tournament. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Last night, the gals beat Dayton 84-70 despite several players coming down with the stomach flu and Samarie Walker literally puking on the bench. Were you one of the people who missed it due to ESPN 2’s odd regional coverage? Check out the highlights below.

If you’re interested in cheering on the women in person, you can purchase tickets by calling the Webster Bank Arena box office at (203) 345-2400 or checking out their website. Our own Matt, Drew, Wilder and Hayley will be there as well.

Wow. Going to be a tough game against one of the best players in the country, Elena Delle Donne. I hope they can get it done!

Mitchell has been able to raise the overall level of UK play but as yet has not been able to win ‘the big one’ that pushes UK into the upper echelon of the women’s game. Here’s hoping they can get that done this year.

This will be a very tough matchup. Elena Delle Donne is no freaking joke. This would be a great win for the Hoops team if they can pull it out.

Something i don’t understand. UK Womens received a 2 seed and did not start play at home. Watching some other teams last night playing on their home floors and a higher seed. Is this because we are KENTUCKY ???

I watched the game on ESPN3 and other than a few stupid turnovers, they looked very good. Mathies was unstoppable. Delaware is a one person team and will wilt under the pressure.
