The UK Hoops team ran its SEC record to 7-0 this afternoon with a 57-52 win over Florida in Memorial Coliseum. It was a balanced scoring effort for the team, as 10 different players registered a bucket, led by Keyla Snowden with 11 points and Kastine Evans with 10. Florida battled the whole way, but UK hit 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch to hold them off. The win puts UK’s overall record at 18-2 and keeps them in firm possession of first place in the SEC as they near the halfway point of the conference season.
It also continues a ridiculous run of homecourt dominance for the Kentucky men’s and women’s teams, who now own a 90-2 combined home record over the last three seasons, which is the best in college basketball according to UK Athletics. The men will be on the road for the next two games, but the women will get the chance to improve on that record when they host Alabama next Sunday after visiting Auburn on Thursday. Coach Mitchell’s squad continues to roll right along as they search for their first conference title since 1982.
