UK Hoops favored by 6 tonight

hoopsdepaul1

Matthew Mitchell’s squad will take on seventh-seeded Dayton tonight in the second round of the NCAA tournament and the Cats are favored by six points entering the game.

UK won its tourney opener against Navy by 20 points on Sunday, but the Flyers aren’t afraid of the fast tempo they’ll face tonight. “We’re not intimidated,” Dayton guard Sam McKay said.

The game will be televised on ESPN 2 at 7:00 p.m.

Go UK Hoops.

    4) Apparently girls basketball is called “hoops” now… And if people bet on how long Alicia Keys will sing the National Anthem before the Super Bowl, I’m sure they bet on hoops, too

Intimidated or not, will not help you if UK Lady Cats gets you rattled, which happened to the Navy Ladies.

    8) That’s funny, because I actually considered that when I typed it! I’d like to see a picture of Sam. Not enough to Google it, though. I’m pretty sure she could kick my butt. Wasn’t Sam the name of the girl that was schooling all the boys in peewee football? Anyway, GO UK HOOPS!

12, pretty sure Mitchell finds the best players to fit his system. None are black or white. They are all blue. But you know that. race baiting comment says a lot about your IQ.

19(Stats?) – If you keep clicking you can get to the stats for any of the DI teams regarding rankings for a number of categories like 3 point fg%, FT%, etc. It can show the relative strengths and weaknesses of each team. However when you consider that those stats were achieved by going against a much tougher schedule (UK’s SOS was 15, Dayton’s SOS was 88) I don’t know how much you can glean from the info. At any rate as Roland said, UK was No.1 in the country in Turnover Margin. To witness the effect their defense can have on an opponent’s psyche in person is bittersweet. You can’t help but feel sorry for some of the poor kids that have to play against them while simultaneously you are screaming like crazy because of a great steal that leads to a tremendous fast break layup. Dayton and UK scrimmaged against each other last fall where apparently no score was kept so they should be somewhat familiar with each other. It should be a fun game to watch tonight.
