UK holds Pro Day

proday

What? The SEC tournament? Never heard of it.

The football Cats were out in full force this morning working out for representatives from 26 of the 32 NFL teams during their annual Pro Day.

Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke chose not to participate in the drills like the 40 yard dash and the vertical jump, preferring to let their numbers from the combine stand. However, Mike Hartline and Chris Matthews both ran the 40 and both clocked very favorable times. Hartline ran a 4.8 and Matthews ran a 4.5. Both numbers are great considering the size and position of the two senior Cats.

Just a few quick hitters:

– Cobb participated in drills at the running back position to display his versatility.

– That’s promising news for Bengals fans, like myself, because Bengals running back coach, Jim Anderson, was on hand. I’d love to see either Locke or Cobb in a Bengals uniform next season.

– Winston Guy tweaked his hamstring during the drills but is staying in Lexington over spring break and should be good to go for spring ball.

– Danny Trevathan chose not to participate in any activities citing soreness.

– Other notable Cats in participation today: Moncell Allen, DeQuin Evans, Brad Durham, Shane McCord and Ricky Lumpkin.

– The six NFL teams not in attendance were Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego and Tampa Bay.

Alright, back to basketball

The last place I’d like to see a Kentucky player is in a Bengals uniform.

for Locke or Cobb’s sake, i hope the Bengals pass on them, or get beat to the pick

I hope none of the cats get drafted by the Bengals, Cowgirls, or the raiders. Worthless organizations.

Oakland would actually be a great fit for Cobb. I’m disappointed, but not surprised they weren’t there.

How could you say you would like to see them play for the Bengals? I wouldn’t wish that on anybody, let alone the UK boys.

I do not agree with your statement about Cobb or Locke in a Bengals uniform. I want them to be successful at the next level and their best chance of that is to not be in Cincinnati. As a Cincinnati resident for 13 years I would not wish that fate on any athlete.

I held a pro day today too. Not even one NFL team came. That’s absurd.

add Cleveland to the list of programs not to go to. Cincinnati may suck, but at least Cleveland is worse for the most part.

Why would anyone want UK guys to end up sentenced to play for the Bungles? They would be better off in Detroit. Also, what position is Hartline trying out for?

Derrick Locked chose not to participate, but rather stand on the sidelines and make fun of his former teammates that did.

I think Cobb would be a great replacement for the aging H. Ward at Pitt. Both undersized recievers with great work ethics. Both played QB in the SEC. I also wouldn’t wish a Bengals uniform on anyone.

Well said, #1. Cobb at RB will not help the Bengals. Especially when their quarterback throws for 20,000 yards and when they acknowledge it on the HOME PA system… the crowd boos. Cobb & the Steelers… now that’s a match. RB/slot receiver.

Cobb to the Steelers, Colts, or Saints would thrill me. And as bad as I hate to say it he could be a superstar with the Eagles. He is the type of player they always seem to utilize and make a star out of. Locke needs to go somewhere that has a power RB to play the change of pace.

Why in the hell would you want to see Cobb or Locke playing for the Bengals? That’s like a freakin’ NFL death sentence to play for possibly the worst-run franchise in the NFL. And that’s coming from someone who was a diehard Bengals fan as a kid. I lost my fandom during that whole 20 years of sucking thing. I might become a Bengals fan again when Mike Brown dies.
