UK Football: “Stinger Splashin’ the SEC”

Kentucky football fans should be excited about a potential commitment from Steve Borden, a JUCO tight end from Kilgore College in Texas and the son of Sting.  Why?  Because a series of billboards like the one above would be awesome.  And because he’s 6’4, 240 lbs., and runs a 4.49 40-yard dash.  You can watch his Kilgore College highlights here.

On this morning’s KSR radio show, Matt asked the listeners to name other famous wrestlers who might have a son out there with football potential.  Any suggestions?

I think a young Val Venis would be a crowd favorite.  Maybe The Godfather Jr. at defensive end or Goldberg II at middle linebacker?

I always read that Ravishing Rick Rude was one of the LEGIT tough guys in the industry that had an actual amateur wrestling background.

Does he actually run a 4.48 forty yard dash? At 6’4 240, he should be in the NFL instead of here. That number seems fishy to me. He would be in Aaron Hernandez’s league of speed/size for a TE or an impact LB at those measurements. Where is this info from?

Dude had 11 catches for 180 for the season in JUCO. I guess you can get excited about anything you want but this just shows why UK is an SEC bottom feeder.

#8… It looks like the number on the beginning of his video is a 4.49 40…. Further, if you read the Courier’s article on him, he has a quote talking about how he likes to line up at WR and plays a similar game to Hernandez….

You just know Rikishi’s son would be a bamf at guard/center. Never hurts to have a little extra size in the middle and if they get past him, he can just back dat a$$ up on em!

#12 actually I think your looking at the wrong thing, although it is nearly 15 yrs per catch, in this new offense the tight end is primarily a lead blocker for receivers, so u need a big strong kid who can get out in front of them, and from what I’ve seen this kid fits the system perfect, so before you speak on the subject get some knowledge, no stat for blocks that lead to big plays, look at john Conners numbers, he def wasn’t the best fb we had because of yards per carry, it was his speed and ability to block down field and open up the field for guys like Locke who could get in space and make plays

12/23. Congrats on pulling up some irrelevant questions for you?

#1. Name UKs starting TE without looking it up?
#2. How many catches did that TE have in UKs prolific passing offense last season?
#3. Who put up better #s, Borden or UKs TE?
#4. When will people like you stop whining about subjects you know nothing about?

Watch him track down the kid on the punt return from across the field. His 4.49 40 time might be exaggerated but his football speed is obvious. He also played QB in high school. May have been a late bloomer. Who knows but he has some talent. To what level, maybe we’ll see.

As far as WWE personell on UKs football team/staff here is a few I came up with

    Hornswaggle at left tackle

Scott Hall as the teams Medic

Doink the Clown as the head coach (I love Trick Plays)

    Rakishi as a Hybrid Corner/Safety

#23 I’m not sayin u are incorrect about how many catches the kid had, I’m sayin he’s is being recruited for other things than just catching the ball, the kid is fast and appears to be a good blocker, both important in the spread
