UK Football loses redshirt nose guard to the transfer portal

Redshirt freshman Cavon Butler announced via Twitter that he’s entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

A former 3-star prospect from Toledo, Butler was offered by Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan State, West Virginia, and many more but eventually signed with the Wildcats. He was recruited by Coach Vince Marrow and hails from the same high school as senior defensive tackle Phil Hoskins.

Butler was considered a Top-50 defensive lineman in the Class of 2019. He was named as the Three Rivers Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and selected first-team All Northwest District along with being second-team All Ohio in Division I. Butler recorded 71 tackles as a high school senior including nine tackles for loss and 7.5 QB sacks.

Butler redshirted in 2019 but recorded one tackle against UT Martin. He departs a youthful yet talented defensive line group. Nose tackle appeared to be his position which already has All-SEC candidate Quinton Bohanna and Marquan McCall at the same spot. UK signed four highly-regarded defensive linemen in its Class of 2020.

Man you’re a idiot. Why even come here and troll?? It’s getting old! If you’re mentally challenged or something I apologize, but I don’t think you are. You’re just a hater who loves trying to piss on everyone and everything so they will fell like you!

Anyway, this sucks. Terrible loss with this young man and he will be missed. His time was coming and he was getting ready to play a big part with us over the next few years. I really hate to see him go because his film was awesome and he was a really good get. We will replace him, but guys like him aren’t just everywhere. He’s going to be a heck of a get for some other program and as much as I hate to lose him, I still wish him the very best of luck and I hope he gets all out of life he deserves. Good luck buddy.

Agreed J74. He was one of the recruits that I was highest on after seeing some of his tape. Really looked quick for a big man. Hopefully he changes his mind and comes back.

If there is an idiot poring every article and another person replying to each of his posts, calling him an idiot. Which one is truly the idiot. Trolls on return to where they are fed. Don’t feed the trolls.

I know coach Marrow was high on him when he signed. Hate to see him go but wish him the best of luck.
