UK Fans of the Day Want to meet Calipari and Have Afternoon Notes

What would be better than meeting John Calipari on the morning of the UK-UL football game? Well that can happen as part of a promotion sponsored by Triton Store in Louisville. If you go to Triton Stone of Louisville on Plantside drive (267-9303) and register in the NEXT 2 DAYS, you can be one of 200 fans to hang out and attend a private party for 2 hours with Calipari and get a free copy of his new book. Thats a pretty good gig. The party is at 11 am before the Louisville game and Calipari will be coming there before heading to Papa Johns Stadium. All you have to do is go to Triton Stone, register and if your name is drawn, you win a party with Calipari. There wont be too many contests you will see with better odds for a better prize. So go stop by.

Some notes:

— Once again, another football commitment for Joker Phillips. This time its Rashad Cunningham from Mobile, Alabama, who brings height and speed to the WR position. The Cats lost one Alabama WR last week so what did they do…they went and got a different one this week. Cunningham was a huge target for Arkansas and Kentucky getting him is a big recruiting coup by Tee Martin, who is making a BIG name for himself on the recruiting circuit so far. Great get for Joker, who is now 19 deep in his class already.

— I dealt with this a lot on the radio today but it is worth mentioning here….Quincy Miller will likely go to Louisville and in so doing, will be the best recruit Rick Pitino has ever gotten to the school. But as Evan Daniels of said on our show yesterday, it is in part because UK essentially quit recruiting him. And as I wrote yesterday, they essentially stopped because Brian Clifton, an AAU leader, became the head man on his recruitment. So if and when he ends up at UL, tell your Cards friends this….even when they get the best of the best, it is still after UK has made its selection.

— Little stat to remember as we move to the Governors Cup game. The team to lead the game in rushing has won the last ten times these two teams have played. With Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke at the forefront of the UK attack, that seems to bode well for the Big Blue.

— I was forwarded this link today of the hottest female college campuses in America and in the 2010 rankings, UK comes in at #10. Most of the pictures used by the site are originally from the KSR Fan of the Day selection, so it is worth a link here. The SEC dominates the list, with Florida State coming in at #1.

— Stewart Mandel (who will be a guest on our show tomorrow) has UK projected to the Outback Bowl this year, with Penn State once again as the likely opponent. An 8-4 record would likely slot UK there, so it is definitely doable and a rematch for the honor of Tim Couch and Craig Yeast in Tampa would certainly make everyone happy….including Beisner who would have a home game.

Finally, WOO was BRILLIANT on the radio once again today. If you didnt hear him, he talked about his severe dislike of the Cards, told us how he doesnt do social media and why he wont read newspapers. It was as good an appearance as Woo as ever had, and that is saying something. The show is on the widget below, along with all of the other shows as well. Download them here and soon they will be on iTunes. The feed isnt great, but we will have new equipment for it in a couple of weeks and streaming is coming quicker thanks to your guys overwhelming response. We really appreciate it. More later….
