UK Fans of the Day Want Evening Notes

Lots of news rolling in, so lets get to it:

2013 big man Marcus Lee is making his decision tomorrow and one has to think it looks good for the Cats. He visited Big Blue Madness last weekend and from all indications, had a splendid time. He was scheduled to visit Cal this weekend, but he has cancelled that visit and for the longest time, those have been his two primary schools. One can’t completely eliminate the Bears however, because it is home school, meaning that a visit probably wasn’t necessary. Nevertheless, most signs are that Lee is likely to pick UK and give the Cats the big man they covet. Lee is ranked anywhere from 15-39 in the rankings, but most people I have spoken with believe that in the end, he will end up ranked in the “high 20s” and he can be a player who will come to Kentucky and play for at least a couple of years.

— So what does this mean the 2013 class will look like? If UK gets Lee, then the class will likely be Harrison Twins/Young/Lee/Willis and one of the group Julius Randle/Aaron Gordon/Tyler Roberson. Then the Cats simply wait and see what Andrew Wiggins is doing. If he is in the 2013 class, they go after him hard and try to win him from Florida State. If he stays in 2014, he becomes the centerpiece of your next recruiting class. If that group comes together AND Wiggins comes…it will be the best recruiting class in college basketball history.

— ESPN made the statement today backing Bobby Knight for the SEC games. A couple of sources tell me that the folks at UK aren’t happy about the decision and will make their displeasure known, but it is unclear whether anything will stop the two UK games he is scheduled to do. What we do know is that Calipari is on his way to ESPN tonight to do a day’s worth of interviews tomorrow to promote the All-Access series. How much you want to bet that he brings the General up at some point? Here is his schedule:

9:15 a.m. — Mike and Mike
10:20 a.m. — SportsCenter
10:50 a.m. — First Take debate
3:15 p.m. — Scott Van Pelt Show (ESPN Radio)
4 p.m. — Numbers Never Lie (ESPN2)
5 p.m. — SportsNation (ESPN2)

— Speaking of the series, the All-Access ESPN Kentucky series will be one of the best looks at UK basketball ever. I have gotten to see some of the prep work that has been done plus the places they have shot and it truly is amazing. It airs tomorrow night at 7 pm on ESPN. Make sure and set your DVRs and also take a look at this “bonus cut” of footage give to KSR by ESPN today:

— Finally, the 2012 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FLOOR is still being auctioned off and is available for bid. The details are below:

Here is your chance to own a piece of UK history and help Kentucky Children’s Hospital. UK fans can visit and submit bids to own one of 300 12”x18” pieces of 2012 NCAA Championship game floor. The auction ends at noon on Thursday, Oct. 18, and the minimum opening bid will be $500. Each piece of the floor features the UK logo, is individually numbered, comes with a certificate of authenticity, and is autographed by Kentucky head basketball coach John Calipari. The money generated by the auction will benefit pediatric cancer efforts at UK HealthCare’s Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington and Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville. For more information please call 859-323-6415.

Go bid for a good cause. More later….

If Wiggins stays in the 2014 class, maybe Calipari will get Randle and Gordon

As to BK, I say make him do UK games. Why let him off the hook? Force him to,sit there and watch the things he hates and fears the most.

As to Wiggins ad the 2014 class being the best ever, of we get Randle we have ESPN’s #2,3,4,& 5 players in the 2013 class. How could 2014 be better than that?

I will share with you my secret “Bob Knight and/or Digger Phelps Calling Games Technique”.

Step 1: Set the game up to be on DVR.
Step 2: Turn on the radio and tune in to Leach’s sweet, sweet voice.
Step 3: Match the radio delay to the DVR’d game.
