Today’s UK fans of the day come from Honolulu, Hawaii. Aloha!
— Calipari met with the media today for his pre-Tennessee press conference and he kicked things off with talk about Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. He said MKG will continue to start, rather than be a spark off the bench, because the team needs its best player out on the court. Kidd-Gilchrist only scored one point against LSU, but that’s ok with Cal because that’s not how he is being judged.
— Cal is also impressed with how Marquis Teague is growing as a point guard. Instead of being a shoot-first player, Cal is glad to see Teague running the team better. He’s defending and running the team like he is expected to do. Scoring is secondary.
— He also commented on his team’s desire to score. “They’re all used to scoring 25 a game,” he said. “It’s killing them.”

The Cats are debuting the new Hyper Elite jerseys against Tennessee tomorrow night on ESPN. Terrence Jones said he likes the new look and Ryan Harrow told reporters he feels like he has more muscles.

— Darius Miller is nominated for the 2012 Dunk of the Year. You can vote once a day here and the winner will be announced March 26 on ESPN 2. He’s up against Tony Mitchell, Jeremy Lamb, Tim Hardaway Jr., Terrence Ross and Victor Oladipo, who dunked on Darius in his nomination.
— UK players were feeling generous this morning so they allowed the SEC to give its weekly honors to a couple of opponents this week. Vanderbilt’s Jeffery Taylor and Florida’s Bradley Beal were named SEC Player and Freshman of the Week. That was really nice of Terrence Jones and Anthony Davis to do that.
— Lots of good topics on today’s radio show, include Pitino’s outfit against Seton Hall and one caller’s concern with the thuggish culture at LSU. Enjoy after the break…
