Two days away from more football, so lets get to it:
— Today on the radio show we brought on John Solomon of the Birmingham News, who has been doing the investigation of the Eric Bledsoe case. Not surprisingly, he refused to answer how the newspaper ended up with the Bledsoe transcripts, but he did acknowledge that the only documents reported on by the newspaper are Bledsoe’s transcripts and “grade report.” According to Solomon, the grade report is a piece of paper that lists Bledsoe’s final grade, but he couldnt say whether it could have been different than the teacher’s final grade for whatever reason. The interview is interesting for what Solomon said and also what he didnt say as well. He expects the final report next week, and said he had no notion of what it would contain.
— Enes Kanter is really good. That is all.
— We have a new policy here on KSR that we will follow. Unless a particular piece of journalism is “newsworthy” (aka it brings up a piece of discussion or news that we do not know), we will not link and dissect random criticism. A perfect example is our decision to link the Times and Birmingham reports on Bledsoe’s grades, but not the random commentaries on the subject. If there is a particular reason to talk about a commentary, it might get mentioned, but in general it is time to ignore the random hits from around the land. These writers now know that if they write something and it is linked here, they will get thousands of hits, which equal money. We are generally through helping with that process. So for those sending the Bozich/Crawford video and North Carolina newspaper column, that is why we arent running with it. If I wanted to have more random idiotic rantings on the site, I would let BTI post more than once a day.
— Jarvis Walker, a Freshman Safety on UK’s football team will transfer according to Joker Phillips. He was a 3 star recruit who came to UK with his brother and now both have left the team. He wasnt really a contender for playing time and his departure opens up another scholarship for this recruiting class.
— Good column today by Stewart Mandel, who looks into exactly who it is that does the NCAA “investigative work.” One of the leaders of the team is from right here in Kentucky and a graduate of Berea College. Berea is best known for being the home of butter churns, spoon bread from Boone Tavern and the alma mater of my dad and thus must be proud of its inclusion in a national football column.
— Finally, Joker Phillips is hyping Randall Cobb for national awards and inclusion among the best players in the land. He tells WLEX that Cobb is a “rare breed”, something I think we can all agree upon after the last three years.
More all day, and the radio shows are below for you to digest. Today was one of the more interesting ones yet and Evan Daniels gives you all the recruiting info for Calipari’s Cats that you can handle:
