Its really hot outside. So this is all I can do to cool myself off after spending the day trying to solve Fermat’s Last Theorem. Some notes:
— Today is the day that the Summer High School Evaluation period has begun and, the news is flying. Well not really, as lots of high school kids are playing basketball and most of us dont care. It is however the time that college coaches hit the road and Calipari tweeted out that he was on the road evalutating and scouting. Wake me up when someone commits.
— While there is very little recruiting news as of yet, there is one tidbit that is a bit troubling. According to a couple of people, recruit Anthony Davis Jr told a radio show this morning that John Wall is being investigated and thus he didnt know what was up at Kentucky. This statement likely has little truth, as recruits arent likely the people who find out if a school is being investigated before the school does. But what it does probably mean is that opposing coaches are passing that information on to Davis. Since the other two schools that are supposed finalists for Davis are Syracuse and Ohio State and Boeheim is Calipari’s friend…should we all start egging That Matta’s house now, or wait till next week?
— Randall Cobb did an interview this weekend in which he raved about the new football strength and conditioning program that has been initated by Rock Oliver. Oliver seems to have the magical formula for getting players in shape, as he has transformed the body of Jorts in his limited time with him and now has the best player on the UK team saying that he is making the team stronger and working them out harder than ever before. It looks like the UK football team is smelling what the Rock has been cooking (sorry I had to).
— I am a big fan of the Uruguay national anthem. It is by far the hit of the World Cup.
— UK Assistant Kenny Payne is making appearances in Indiana for what are his first public recruitment evaluations for the Cats. Payne joins Orlando Antigua as the recruiting specialists on the UK staff and will be given a speciality role for those players in the Class of 2012 and beyond…and as a side note, those players were likely born in 1994. I am really old.
— Louisville Cardinal blogs are reporting that Justin Coleman will likely be ineligible this season for the Cards. That isnt a huge surprise but is troublesome for Ricky Three Stacks and the crew. He was the one recruit they had that I liked and now it is all Swopshire/Kuric/Delk that success rests upon.
