After the slowest week in KSR history last week in terms of news, things have picked back up immeasurably this week. Lets get to it:
— The top story of the day is the turmoil around all things Daniel Orton at this point. A number of sources are reporting that Orton seems to be slipping in the Draft and could find himself going at the end of the First Round. This coincides with the Yahoo Sports story today that a family conflict around the Orton camp has made him unable to yet hire an agent, a process that is hurting his ability to be marketed to the various franchises. It has been a rough couple of weeks for Orton and while I wish the kid the best, it isnt necessarily surprising. From his attitude at times during the season, to his decision to skip out on classes to now, it seems that Orton is not getting good advice and it is costing him dearly.
— Patrick Patterson has been invited to the Green Room for the NBA Draft. He was one of 15 players invited to hear his name live in Madison Square Garden, joining John Wall and Demarcus Cousins for the selection. It will be fun to see all three guys get picked and accept the honor live and it makes Thursday night even more exciting. Remember we will Live Blog the entire event, so you want to be right here throughout.
— Chad Ford of ESPN.com is now reporting that the Nets are leaning towards taking Wesley Johnson at #3. If that happens, it opens things up below and Minnesota likely will try to trade out of that slot, potentially to Houston or Detroit, both of whom covet Demarcus Cousins.
— Jay Bilas with strong words on Demarcus Cousins today saying, that “he is not coachable and needs a babysitter. I am a Bilas fan, but cant disagree with him more as I think he is way off. But it is a position he has held consistently and time will tell just how wrong he will be.
— Our good friend Bomani Jones has been around KSR for a long time and is a fan favorite. Well now because of his show on Sirius satellite radio, he is getting famous. Here he is profiled in the Atlanta Post as a “rising star” in the sports world. And to think, we knew Bomani way back when. Mr. “Ricky Three Stacks” will be joining us for the NBA Draft Live Blog on Thursday night.
— And finally, a sad follow-up to a story we kept up with for weeks. Vienna and that Bachelor dude broke up, causing us all to longer believe in love. What they will do now is unclear, but here is hoping that Vienna Padgett finds her way in the world. We remember her best with this:
