Its a slow day, but lets get some quick hitters….
— The UK-UNC game next season will be on December 4th according to a source I spoke with today. So pack your bags for Chapel Hill accordingly.
— If you havent seen the video below, know that the Bobby Perry country music career is going full steam ahead. You havent lived until you have ridden to Tampa with Perry and heard him sing every country song on the radio at the top of his lungs. He is the Mark Chesnutt of the UK basketball program.
— Everyone is aflutter about the Brandon Knight haircut which he says was done to make himself more “marketable.” Is it just me or are kids significantly more aware of such attributes now than in years past? When I was in high school, my goal was to make my glasses, braces and acne go away to make myself more “marketable” to women, but thinking about getting national attention at 17 is quite impressive.
— I am told that all UK players are expected to be here this summer by the second semester, which starts in late June. They will then be around as the team gets ready for their Canada trip. So UK fans, get ready for another summer of random pictures of players and fans in the city.
— A sad story today from another fanbase. One of the prominent Kansas message board posters passed away while trying to rescue those in a fire. He was a fireman and a huge Kansas fan and a memorial fund has been set up for him. Our prayers go out to he and his family.
— If you are like me, you are ready for some great kicking in football this year (I am trying, there isnt much going on today). The above story is about Joe Mansour, who will be kicking for UK next season. He may be the most highly touted player the Cats have on the field from the Freshman class.
— Rick Pitino cant believe you are talking about Preston Knowles and his hairbrush on the day that oil is spilling all over the Gulf.
— This is a recruiting dead period until June 1. I am told Arnett Moultrie will visit both UK and Texas right after and then make a decision quickly. He could be the last scholarship of the 2010 class, although he wont play until 2011.
— Not been a good year for our man Tubby Smith. The trial loss yesterday is on the heels of many off the court issues for his players and missing the Tournament. Tubby was brought in to win and have no scandal. He has done some of the former but has struggled on the latter. The seat might be getting warm.
— Kenny Payne was asked why he took the Kentucky job by an Oregon newspaper. He said, “Kentucky is Kentucky.” There you go.
