Tennyson and Hunt at the Final Four

– Let’s start off strong with a little love from the Worldwide Leader. Eamonn Brennan takes some time to profile the basketball Cats in ESPN’s Summer Buzz series. Brennan starts by talking about the return of Terrence Jones, goes on the question if the Cats will be TOO talented to spread the touches around, and then finishes by saying how amazing a defensive coach John Calipari is. That’s just a rough summary. Go read the article and try not to salivate too much.

– We’ve been talking about the Adidas Nations tournament a bit this weekend and it’s now at a close. Some UK recruits will be playing in the championship game when Aaron and Andrew Harrison team up with Chris Walker to take on Andre Drummond and Rodney Purvis. Stacey Poole’s brother Solomon will be playing in the third place game.

– I’m sure we’ll have a more comprehensive piece on it later today, but the fourth installment of’s better know a freshman series came out today. This one features Marquis Teague. Go check it out.

Darius Miller is off to China. Doesn’t he look handsome?

– The coolest news of the day just came from Coach Cal via Twitter. You can vote for your favorite UK Legends starting line up.

Wall, Boogie, Jodie, Rajon and Prince

– Speaking of Coach Cal, he sat down with his favorite media personality, Andy Katz, and dropped this little gem regarding Doron Lamb: “He’s our best basketball player”.

– Bruce Ellington, the South Carolina basketball player, is playing football for the Gamecocks, too. In a display of respect for his new teammate, Stephen Garcia has promised to get blackout drunk and attend every basketball game this season.

Alan Cutler looked at a key similarity between Kentucky and Michigan going into this football season: turnovers. He says that both clubs are going to try to create more turnovers on defense and reduce their own number of turnovers on offense. Sound coaching.

– Four-star shooting guard in the class of 2012, Torian Graham, has decommitted from NC State. UK had previosuly expressed interest in him. He went to the same high school (Word of God Academy) as John Wall. Highlights:

As always, if you missed the radio show, we got your back. Matt talks media and fan days plus high school football, Bookie and geese. Check it out…

I graduated from Fulton City. Smallest team in the state of KY that has a football team. Too bad they have not had a coach that knows what a football looks like for 8 years or so now.

The starters should be the vets. Rondo, Meeks, Bogans, Prince, Nazr. The young guys should come off the bench. Those veterans deserve to start…especially Nazr since he was around durin the glory days in the 90s and a main contributor to the 98 championship. I just really wish Magloire, Hayes and Patterson can back. It really shocked me Patterson didnt. But, veterans over young guys. They’ll all get their chances.

Why is Cutler bringing up Michigan in the turnovers story? Do we have common history, rivalry, conference, direction, etc? Weird tie-in.
