UK Fans of the Day Want Afternoon Notes

A few notes…

 – The world continues to wonder just what Coach Cal meant this morning when he Tweeted out “Kaboom!” to his four hundred gazillion followers.  You all came up with some great ideas, including noting that Kaboom backwards seems to indicate that Cal found another year of eligibility for Heshimu Evans.  Matt pointed out that “Kaboom” is what Seth Davis Tweeted after the Kanter news broke.  Is that some sort of hint?  I don’t know.  I know I’m not going to question Matt Jones.  Diapers are expensive.

 – Another person wisely pointed out that UK SID DeWayne Peevy also had a potentially foreshadowing Tweet this morning that might tie into what Calipari was teasing.  Peevy said this:

peevy-tweet-kaboom

A better way, huh?  Hmmm.  Do we need to start making guesses again?

 – Jeff Goodman was on a radio station in Houston this morning talking about his story last night that tied several big name coaches to a Ponzi scheme organized by a the founder of Houston Elite.  During that interview, Goodman said all of Baylor’s staff was involved and the host said that Billy Gillispie was one of the last people to see David Salinas alive.  According to the host, Clyde stopped by his office a week or so ago and had some not-so-friendly words with him about the Ponzi scheme.  That doesn’t necessarily mean that Clyde is suspicious in any way, after all Salinas died of an apparent suicide, not too much belittling, but it just seems like the guy can’t catch a break in terms of the news he makes.

 – Another name fell off the Kentucky football board today as four-star Drae Bowles picked Tennessee.  Bowles had an offer from UK and the Tennessee native has risen over the past few months into being regarded as one of the top receivers in the nation.  He is the Vols’ fourth recruit in the class and isn’t from Alcoa, so he probably won’t be very good.

If you missed Kentucky Sports Radio this morning, make sure you listen to the podcast below.  Buzz Baker and Oscar Combs brought it strong and welcomed in Evan Daniels and Jacob Tamme to talk sports.  Check it out.

so Beis, basically what you are saying is that Goodman is implying that Billy Gillispie is a murderer? I knew it I knew it, I knew it!!! Billy set up OJ too.

Definitely not a recruit. “Always thinking of a better way. Should be fun.” the BBM in commonwealth would make sense but I really don’t see that happening. Maybe another roadtrip like the one to Canada? But somehow bigger or better?? Idk. No one really knows and we won’t until cal explains. Then again it could be nothing at all..

Um. To me this dedimitely put billy g on the suspect list. Guy dies less than a week after he confronts him about losing alot of money in a ponzi scheme.

I think it would be cool to just come out and say this one time beis (On afternoons such as this)..

OK, there is absolutely nothing to note this afternoon. Move along.

Hell…that would be classic and not to mention real.

Lost another 4 star recruit. Drats.

Does anyone else find it rather egotistical for Joker to put himself front and center on the cover of this year’s UK football annual? I mean isn’t college athletics supposed to be about the players…the students?

Cal makes it very clear that its his players first and I’ve always found him to be differential to his guys on the floor. NOT putting himself on the cover of magazines IN FRONT of his team.

I don’t know. Joker hasn’t proven anything to me and certainly hasn’t gained the noteriety from his performance on the sidelines to merit that. On the other hand, Warford and Trevathia HAVE. Give them their due Phillips. Quit hogging the ink.

    just my 2 cents.

#15….Geesh. How about Muschamp on the cover of UF? As for Calipari, he’s on the cover of everything else, so the lack of a photo on the cover of the media guide was just a break for him, I guess.

Hey 20, star ratings do mean something. I will take five Mcdonalds All-America’s all day long over five 3-4 star players. Statistics say that the better players are going to be better! Not saying that there are no good 3-4 star players, just why take a chance?

Stars definitely matter. It’s silly to think otherwise.National Champs and top tie programs are staked to the gills with the best of the best. Their two or three deep players would start for UK on average. However, there are exceptions, and kids that get coached up and excel during their time in college. When you are playing the very best competition in Conference week in and week out, you either get better or you don’t play.

If Gillispie did in fact see Salinas a week or so ago prior to his suicide, I don’t think he was one of the last people to see him alive.

Was Salinas in a hole? Did he not go out to a restaurant or something. It is a little much to imply Gillispie was one of the last people to see Salinas alive.
