Notes as I get ready to hit the road for the all night drive to Syracuse:
— Early returns suggest that Cornell will have significantly more fans than the Cats, if today is any indication. I will be there tomorrow, and hopefully more Blue is following.
— Demarcus Cousins is another who doesnt like the media’s portrayal of the game. According to Brett Dawson Cousins said he was tired of the “Smart kids vs dumb kids” angle and that it was “stupid”. “We are here to play basketball. It’s not a spelling bee.”
— Matt May reports that Cousins went even further later and was wearing his “Peter Parker swag” black glasses and was asked about the “smart vs dumb” storyline and said, “maybe I should get a piece of white tape and wrap it around these glasses.” Boogie Rules.
— Many are upset about Pat Forde’s new piece on the heroes and villains of each bracket. This one doesnt bother me as much, mainly because besides his unfounded accusation (that the Freshman may have quit going to class), it does repeat the notion that because Kentucky is good, they are the bad guy. That doesnt bother me. In addition, Forde notes that the UK players are not just caricatures of bad guys running around waiting for the NBA. This is the type of article that has shots that I dont mind…because it is at least balanced. There you go, my one Pat Forde compliment of the year.
— Interesting article by Luke Winn of SI.com on the Enes Kanter situation and how the new NCAA rule may allow him to play right away. He identifies the dates in which the NCAA will make its important decisions and the path for Kanter to be there when the 2010-2011 season tips off. A good read for all UK fans wanting to know about Kanter.
— Funny little tidbit on this website about UK fans ruining the release of CBS regional maps. Because this site linked them last week (and they were linked here and at TCP), UK fans flooded CBS with calls complaining when the game wasnt on in their region. Now CBS wont release the maps anymore. Nice work Cats’ fans. The people united will never be defeated.
