When in Rome, do as the Wildcat fans do…

There’s nothing like a good Twitter war on a Friday afternoon. Today’s comes to us from the CBS Sports trio of Gregg Doyel, Gary Parrish, and Jeff Goodman. While almost all of the national media sees the Harrison Twins’ decision to attend Kentucky as further evidence of Cal’s annihilation of the recruiting scene, some people just can’t accept that the best players might simply just want to play for the best.

Gregg Doyel nails it with this tweet, which Gary Parrish can’t help but follow up with some air quotes and asterisks:

And you know Jeff Goodman couldn’t stay out of this one:

Hey Doyel: too much logic.

Here’s today’s podcast, in which Matt and Drew talked about–what else–a HUGE day in recruiting, capped off by watching the best high school player in America in West Virginia. How can you resist?

Parrish and Goodman are the constant perpetuators of Calipari’s “cheating” stigma. And unfortunately, many people believe everything they read on the Internet….

Where are these douchebags complaining about unseely activities in recruiting when Coach K, Ole Roy, Pitino, Howland, Billy D, Izzo, Calhoun, or any other strong recruiting/elite coach lands a recruit?

Doyel’s right: Cal is in the perfect position and is making maximum use of the dais you sit on when you coach at UK. Draft picks, typically high (yeah, yeah, they were going Pro anyway, but look at their draft position and compare to other sure things at other schools). Fun style of play. Winning tradition for school and coach, including the 2nd most titles in history. Rabid fanbase. Hollywood-like atmosphere where celebrities are invited. Marquee games and tourneys like the Champions Classic and upcoming super tourney in a few years.

Just because Cal is getting 2-3 times the elite recruits that Duke or UNC is right now, that doesn’t mean he’s cheating any more than they cheat to get those recruits away from lesser schools. Okay, well, maybe Duke and UNC aren’t the best examples for following the rules right now…But Cal’s cheating. Keep at it media trolls.

I cannot rank Kentucky in the top 10 to begin next season (2013-2014)due to their youth and inexperience. Especially given that one of the Harrison twins is younger than the other…very concerning!

Haters hate Kentucky for the same reason some people hate America, Kentucky is number 1 and they dominate. If we let the haters diminish our greatness then the terrorist win.
