DeMarcus Cousins scored 40 points in the Big Blue All-Stars 125-104 win over Union College last night. See if you can find him hidden in the crowd in that photo.

Jerry Tipton is at it again. This time, he managed to put a negative spin on Coach Cal’s basketball tip-off luncheon in Louisville. Tipton titled a blog post, “Cal Puts Draft Picks Over A National Title”, which is completely untrue. Coach Cal wants to win a national title, obviously. He said he would be disappointed if no one was drafted if that happens. Tipton also made a point to say the crowd was silent after Coach Cal said that. Of course they were! The man was giving a speech at a luncheon. The crowd was silent the whole time! They were silent during the prayer too. Does that mean the crowd doesn’t agree with what the pastor was thanking the Lord for? This guy is ridiculous. It’s a shame he is still invited to anything UK basketball related. People are going to read the Herald-Leader — well, maybe, but for the sake of this argument let’s say they do — and think Calipari was preaching draft picks over a title and received a negative reaction from the crowd. The crowd was eating mashed potatoes and listening to a speech! Write that. If Tipton wants negativity, he should write about those mashed potatoes. They were awful. The nerve on this guy.

— Give me a second to calm down.

— Okay, we’re good.

—  6-foot-8 JUCO prospect Orlando Sanchez named Kentucky on his final list of schools. Sanchez is also considering UMass, Providence, LSU, Rhode Island, Florida International, and Baylor. You may recognize Orlando Sanchez as one of the players on Coach Cal’s Dominican Republic team over the summer. He had a breakout game in Rupp Arena for the Dominicans, scoring 13 points in 29 minutes in his first international competition.

2 days, 4 hours, and 30 minutes until Big Blue Madness. I’m giving away two tickets on Twitter because I love you. All of you.

— In football news… wait… where are you going? This is important. In football news, Joker was very pleased with today’s practice. “I think we got better today, especially with our effort and enthusiasm,” he said. “We had a lot of competitive drills that we did today and scrimmaged on kick and punt returns. We got a chance to look at some new guys there.” The team will scrimmage tomorrow, mostly for the younger guys and inexperienced players.

— South Carolina dismissed Stephen Garcia because of a failed drug test, but there is a ridiculous rumor floating around that Stephen Garcia was shaving points before he was replaced by Connor Shaw. Get out of here with that nonsense. He just sucked.

— Today’s radio show was a warmup before Matt’s big performance as the host of the basketball luncheon. Take a listen…

UK should pull Tipton’s press credentials. It couldn’t possibly make him more negative and it would make his job/life more difficult.

I think that Demarcus Cousins loves his fans almost as much as we love him. I think he has adopted the state of Kentucky as his new home and we are damn glad to have him. I remember him saying that back in Alabama that everyone had some pre concieved notion about him and there was alot of negative things said about him. Well guess what, the state of Kentucky has not seen anything but positives from this gentle giant.

That quote from Cal is all they talked about on the Kards station(afternoon underdogs).Lach is making fun of it on twitter too, why do card fans care what Cal says its not about them. Somedays I hate living in louisville, its all praise for Pitino and his “if they are talking about the university I won’t be quiet anymore I will retaliate” that he said this morning on the radio. KSR needs to get shows on louisville station at 7 am and 4pm, so i don’t have to listen to the sports that jurich approves!!

Well, in watching the video of Cals talk, the crowd seemed to kind of politely ignore his comment about being disappointed if no one was drafted, while they clapped, laughed and cheered at many of his other comments. It IS ludicrous that Tipton would make that the subject of his blog article, but its also true that KY fans don’t like it when Cal seemingly pushes players out the door – especially when they want to stay.

Fact is, Brandon Knight will make millions in the NBA regardless of when his career starts. But he’ll never have another shot at winning a national championship, and may never win another trophy for the rest of his life. And to watch him to sit during this stupid lockout seems like such a waste.

For 2011 Mississippi has claimed the title of fattest state for the sixth consecutive year, while Colorado continues its streak as the leanest. Florida rose the most places in the rankings over last year, while Oregon dropped the most, according to a new analysis by CalorieLab, Inc.

According to CalorieLab, KY is NOT the fatest state in the nation. Its did move down from 7 to 4th though – so getting fatter!. The SEC wins yet another championship, and West Virginia looks like a great ‘fit’ as the 14 member.

    From CalorieLab: Most Obese States

“For 2011 Mississippi has claimed the title of fattest state for the sixth consecutive year, while Colorado continues its streak as the leanest. Florida rose the most places in the rankings over last year, while Oregon dropped the most, according to a new analysis by CalorieLab, Inc.

Alabama remained in second place, while Tennessee dropped from last year’s tie with Alabama down to fourth place. West Virginia rose from fourth place last year to third place this year. Kentucky rose from last year’s seventh place to tie with last year’s fifth fattest state, Louisiana.”
